BARA Ultimate Hosts First Hat Tournament of the 2025 BSU Series
BARA Ultimate successfully hosted the first Hat Tournament of the 2025 Bandar Social Ultimate (BSU) Series on 16 November 2025 at Peak Hub in Berakas, adjacent to Setia Point. The event reached full participation with 30 players and marks the opening leg of this year’s BSU calendar.
The BSU Series, established in 2023, is BARA’s annual multi-leg Ultimate programme designed to promote regular play and community engagement. Each year features two to four legs, with formats ranging from standard team play to fun and inclusive Hat layouts.
A Hat Tournament is a well-known format in the Ultimate community where players register individually and are randomly allocated into teams. This system encourages balanced matchups, equal playing opportunities, and interaction among athletes of various experience levels.
For this leg, participants were grouped into five teams of six, competing in 4-vs-4 matches on a netball court configuration — resulting in quick transitions, high-tempo points, and continuous action throughout the afternoon.
BARA President Yasmin Patera was present and participated alongside the players, underscoring BARA’s commitment to supporting grassroots development and making Ultimate accessible to both new and seasoned athletes.
To close the event, a lucky draw was held featuring items from ClubJr (Japan), where three pairs of socks and one pair of gloves were awarded to four participants.
With the BSU Series now well underway, BARA Ultimate looks ahead to its next major event: the Bandar Ultimate Open (BUO) 2025, scheduled for 6–7 December 2025 at the Jerudong Sports Complex. The competition is expected to draw approximately 200 players from across Brunei, making it one of the largest Ultimate gatherings in the country this year.
