21/11/2025

A new era of digital integration for the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) was inaugurated during the 33rd Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOMM) and Investment Conference (ICON), held from 11th to 14th November 2025. In a decisive move to accelerate the sub-region's digital economy, senior officials officially approved and endorsed the strategic rebranding of the BIMP-EAGA ICT CEO Forum into the BIMP-EAGA Digital Alliance.

This transformation elevates the former forum, which was established to foster collaboration among ICT executives, into a more robust entity with an expanded mandate. The new Digital Alliance is poised to play a stronger institutional role in driving the digital agenda forward.

The launch was a central outcome of the BIMP-EAGA Investment Conference (BIMP ICON) on 13 November 2025 at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Davao City. Under the theme “BIMP-EAGA 2035: Driving Integration through Tourism, Trade, and Digital Innovation,” the Alliance’s vision was immediately put into focus during Session 3: "Unleashing Digital Economic Opportunities in the BIMP-EAGA Sub-Region." The session featured the Digital Alliance's Chairwoman, Sabah Net CEO, Head of Digital Alliance (Malaysia), and the members, GoMamam Founder and CEO, and the Trustee of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines, who outlined a clear strategic direction for unlocking the sub-region's digital potential.

The high-level significance of this development was further cemented in a press release from the Ministry of Finance and Economy concerning the 28th BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting on 14th November 2025, which endorsed the outcomes of the SOMM and ICON, demonstrating full ministerial support.
