📢 Open Call for Bruneian Poets, Writers & Artists 📢

We invite creative voices from Brunei Darussalam poets, writers and artists to take part in an ethnic empowerment campaign celebrating creative expressions across Southeast Asia.

Be part of a cross-cultural exhibition and creative exchange between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, honoring stories of home, heritage and the evolving identity of Bruneian women in art and literature.

Happy International Women’s Day 2024! 👧🏻👩🏽👩🏾‍🦱👩🏻‍🦰👵🏻🧕🏻

We at The Brunei Writers strive to celebrate women from every literary art form, and to mark this special day, we are highlighting a poem from an upcoming book called “The Blessed Chapter” () by Syamimi Hashim.

Syamimi Hashim is a mother of two and a stay-at-home mom who has experienced the full spectrum of motherhood—the joy, the exhaustion, and the quiet struggles. Initially believing the journey would be simple, she soon realized the challenges of self-doubt, loneliness, and losing parts of herself while discovering someone new. Through The Blessed Chapter, she shares her experiences to support and uplift mothers, reminding them that their struggles are real, their love is enough, and that motherhood is as much about the quiet battles as it is about the beautiful moments.

Hello, dear friends and supporters of The Brunei Writers! 🌟 It's been a quiet number of months on our end, and we’d like to share why. Last year brought some beautiful milestones and challenges for our team – two of us got married 💍💕 and have been adjusting to life’s new chapter, while another was busy conquering exams 🎓📚.

We’re incredibly grateful for your patience and understanding during this period of transition. Now, as we step into 2025, we’re excited to reignite The Brunei Writers with fresh ideas and a renewed passion for creativity. 🎉
