YWAM Burundi

YWAM Burundi Youth With A Mission is an international movement of christians committed to Knowing God and Making Him Known.

Jagen and his wife Ruth, pioneered YWAM Burundi in 2012. Jagen completed his DTS in 2005 at the YWAM Kigali Base, then returned to Burundi leading outreach teams over the next 3 years while visiting other YWAM East Africa bases and did some other schools in YWAM. In 2008, the family moved together to YWAM Kigali where Ruth completed her DTS and Jagen became involved in leading the course. During t

he extent of their time in Kigali, God increasingly laid on their hearts a call to Burundi. Being commissioned in 2011 by YWAM’s regional director, the couple started YWAM Burundi in 2012. As a family, they received a vision of coming to Burundi. They desire to see Burundi being rebuilt and the broken hearts of the people being restored. Jagen and Ruth desire to empower the people of Burundi to see the world the way God sees it and to become to people God wants them to be. YWAM Burundi is now based in the capital of Bujumbura, with a heart to see people, nations, and the world changed through the love and hope of Christ.

- MISSION
YWAM Burundi’s mission is to evangelize, train, and disciple children, youth, and families of any background in Burundi; to support, prepare, and restore their future for betterment of their lives.

- VISION
YWAM Burundi seeks to see broken hearts restored through the love and hope of Jesus Christ through educating, training, and transforming people’s lives of any background in Burundi and beyond.

Serving one another wholeheartedly is at the heart of everything we do. Today, we celebrate every person who sacrificially gives their time and energy to build better communities. Those who work tirelessly, on and off the base, so that Burundi can have a brighter future.✨
To our teachers, missionaries, volunteers, employees, and leaders, this day is for you! Your work keeps us moving forward. Your dedication keeps hope alive in the lives of the vulnerable people we serve.
We are grateful for each one of you. Keep going! Your labor is never in vain!

Today marked the end of our Fasting & Prayer week at YWAM Burundi under this year's theme which is Territory Enlargement.
For a whole week, we sought the Lord's face, we consecrated ourselves, presenting our bodies as living sacrifices and we are grateful for the grace and mercy that He has shown us thus far. As we continue to grow and expand our tents this year, we pray that our God may be the one to guide and orchestrate our steps as we aim to know Him and make Him known in our communities and beyond❤.

We took a significant step toward meeting the daily needs of the refugees in the Makombe transit camp.
Through the generous partnership of UNHCR and Operation Blessing, we inaugurated a sustainable community kitchen with various cooking stations capable of serving 1,000+ refugees a meal every single day alongside a self-pumping water tank system bringing an additional amount of safe, potable water directly into the taps in the camp.
These are more than new structures, they are lifelines to hundreds of families. Every evening, each individual in that camp will be entitled to receive a meal. They will also have the liberty to use the kitchen for other personal cooking. Seeing these families rejoice over their new community kitchen is a feeling that cannot be explained. To God be the glory!

To every partner, donor, and prayer warrior who made this possible, thank you. This is just the beginning and we believe that God is turning the once hopeless and desolate refugee camps into places of transformation and healing.

God bless you.

🌍 Exciting Ministry Announcement!

Hello dear friends, family, and partners,

We are thrilled and humbled to announce the launch of a brand new ministry: The Refugee Response Project under YWAM Burundi Foundation!
This is not just a program we planned on paper. This is a calling we felt deeply in our hearts as God stirred us to act, not just listen.

Over the past months, as the conflict and war in Eastern DRC Congo has continued to escalate, thousands of men, women, and children have been forced to flee their homes, their communities, and everything they know. Their stories broke our hearts , but we knew that a broken heart without action is not enough.

So we chose to move.

We chose to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who have lost so much.

The Refugee Response Project is our answer to that call: bringing hope, healing, practical support, and the love of Christ, to refugees and displaced families during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
We believe that every refugee carries dignity, value, and a future — and we are committed to walking alongside them.
We need YOU, your prayers, your partnership, and your support to make this possible.

Our BDA students are BACK! 🎉📚
The 3rd and final trimester of the academic year is here and they're walking in with passion, determination, and laser focus. Last trimester was great… but this one? This one will be GREATER. Better results. Higher achievements. Bigger impact.
We pray over every student and every teacher as they step into this final stretch. May the Lord watch over them, grant them wisdom, and may His grace continue to make BDA not just a good academy but an EXCELLENT one. 🙏✨
Let's finish strong! 💪
