As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the youth empowerment program supported by KIYO, Spring Communities organized an intensive three-day training in general mechanics, in collaboration with Garage Sante Auto. The training targeted 24 young members from the Inspiration Hubs, equipping them with practical skills tailored to today’s challenging job market.
This initiative responds to the growing need to provide young people with hands-on, market-relevant competencies, particularly in a context where access to formal employment remains limited. By focusing on technical trades such as automotive mechanics, Spring Communities aims to create tangible pathways for self-employment and professional integration.
Unlike traditional training approaches that emphasize theory, this program stood out for its action-oriented methodology. Participants were actively engaged throughout the learning process, with a strong emphasis on hands-on practice, observation, and experimentation. This immersive approach allowed them to quickly grasp key mechanical concepts while building confidence in their abilities.
Beyond knowledge transfer, the training played a critical role in demystifying the profession of mechanics. It empowered participants to handle common vehicle issues independently, strengthened their employability in both the short and medium term, and nurtured an entrepreneurial mindset. As such, the initiative serves as a powerful lever in advancing the autonomy of young people within the Inspiration Hubs.
By equipping participants with practical and applicable skills, it enhanced their independence, boosted their self-confidence, and broadened their outlook on future opportunities. This initiative marks an important step in fostering a generation of young individuals capable of actively shaping their own development and contributing meaningfully to their communities.
