Nacham Africa was honored to be invited by the newly appointed Minister of Health, Dr. Fidèle NKEZABAHIZI, for a meeting with him and the Director General of the Prevention and Health Security Program at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Oscar NTIHABOSE. The meeting provided an important opportunity to present Nacham Africa’s work, highlighting the tangible impact our activities continue to make in improving nutrition and the well-being of vulnerable patients in public hospitals.

During the meeting, our Executive Director, Armand IJIMBERE, shared Nacham Africa’s vision of establishing an industrial kitchen to scale our nutrition program and reach even more hospitals. This initiative represents a significant step toward expanding sustainable nutrition solutions and strengthening community health.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the meaningful impact Nacham Africa is making in communities and reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting the industrial kitchen initiative. Both parties also discussed opportunities for closer collaboration to advance shared health and nutrition security goals and achieve even greater impact. We sincerely thank the Ministry of Health for the invitation, the warm reception, and its commitment to working alongside partners dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our communities.

From patient to partner.

In 2020, Marie Claire survived a road accident while seven months pregnant. During her year-long hospitalization, Nacham Africa stood by her side, providing nutritious meals, medical support, and helping her daughter, who was born with a disability, access specialized care.

After her recovery, Marie Claire joined our Nje mu Bandi incubation center, where she received business training.

Today, she is no longer a beneficiary, she is one of Nacham Africa's suppliers, helping provide nutritious meals to patients facing the same challenges she once experienced.

Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, recovery can become resilience, and resilience can create opportunities to uplift others.

Watch Marie Claire share her journey of hope, determination, and transformation.

We were honored to have Nacham Africa represented at Segal Family Foundation 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, by our Executive Director, Armand IJIMBERE .

The event brought together an incredible community of change makers, philanthropists, nonprofit leaders, and partners who share a common belief: that Africa’s future will be shaped by bold ideas, courageous leadership, and strong partnerships.

For Nacham Africa, this gathering was more than an opportunity to connect,it was a moment to reflect with profound gratitude.

As the Segal Family Foundation celebrates 20 years of impact, we proudly celebrate alongside them. They were the first Foundation to believe in our founder’s vision at a time when it was little more than what many would have called a crazy idea. Before there were results, before there was recognition, before others could see the possibility, Segal Family Foundation saw potential. They chose to believe, to trust, and to invest.

That first act of belief helped turn a bold vision into tangible impact.

Today, thousands of people have been reached and supported through Nacham Africa’s work, and we continue to scale our impact with the same purpose that inspired us from the very beginning. None of this journey would have been possible without partners who had the courage to believe first.

To the Segal Family Foundation, thank you for 20 years of championing African visionaries.

Here’s to the next beat, o bold leadership, trusted partnerships, and an even greater impact for the communities we serve.

Nacham Africa was pleased to welcome representatives from burundikids schweiz Stiftung, one of our partners, for a friendly visit aimed at strengthening our collaboration and witnessing the impact of our work firsthand.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Nacham Africa’s Executive Director, followed by a presentation from the Programs Director highlighting the organization's achievements and ongoing initiatives. The delegation then toured our cultivation site, the hospital kitchen and met beneficiaries who shared to them personal testimonies about how the nutrition program has supported them during their recovery

This partnership aims to support marginalized patients at Kabezi District Hospital by ensuring they have access to nutritious, balanced meals during their hospitalization. Since the partnership began, more than 47100 meals have been served to patients with limited financial means, many of whom come from remote communities and receive little or no family support due to the distance and cost of travel.

The visit reaffirmed our shared commitment to restoring dignity, improving recovery, and ensuring that no patient is left behind.

To conclude the mental health training and awareness sessions for medical students, Nacham Africa, in collaboration with MAC (Medical Action for Change), visited the University of Burundi, Kamenge Campus, on Friday, June 5th.

This final session featured a mini-training led by a psychologist on key topics such as psychological first aid, empathy, and self-care, essential skills for medical practice and patient support.

Through interactive discussions, students shared their internship experiences, asked practical questions, and reflected on how to improve patient care while protecting their own mental well-being.

Professor and Doctor Sakubu, a renowned physician and host of the session, also shared words of encouragement with the future doctors, emphasizing the importance of mental health in medical practice.

“I have faith in the future when I see this new generation of doctors taking an interest in their own mental health and learning how to preserve the mental well-being of their patients.”
he declared while closing the session.

Through this initiative, Nacham Africa continues to encourage a new generation of healthcare professionals who are more empathetic, attentive, and committed to a more human and holistic approach to patient care.

The session also highlighted intervention strategies proposed following the study, including psychosocial support, play-based activities, mental health awareness, classroom discussions, and stronger school support systems to better respond to children’s emotional and social needs.

Through initiatives like these, Nacham Africa continues to advocate for a more compassionate and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to heal, learn, and thrive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Nacham Africa recently joined BADEC Caritas on a radio program at Nderagakura Radio Station to raise awareness about the study, “The Link Between Psychological Vulnerability and Learning Difficulties,” which explored how mental health challenges affect students’ academic performance.

During the discussion, Nacham Africa shared its experience supporting hospitalized children and children accompanying sick parents, particularly those from remote areas with limited support. Through psycho-affective care, play, and learning activities, the organization helps children cope with difficult experiences, continue developing their cognitive abilities, and prepare for a smooth reintegration into school after recovery.
