SaCoDé SACODE, l'Association pour la Promotion de la Santé des Communautés pour le Développement. Elle a son siège social a Bujumbura.

L'Association pour la Promotion de la Santé des Communautés pour le Développement, SACODE, est une Organisation d'appui et d’encadrement, apolitique et à but non lucratif de droit Burundais. La SACODE est née en 2010 suite aux besoins ressentis par ses membres fondateurs de valoriser les bonnes pratiques qui visent las promotion de la santé pour le Développement des communautés a las base. Elle a été agréée par le Ministre de l’intérieur du Gouvernement Burundais le 20 avril 2011. L'objectif fondamental de SACODE est de promouvoir la santé de nos communautés a travers l'information, l’éducation et la sensibilisation sur de bonnes pratiques durables; avec l'espoir d'inciter nos communautés de non seulement être responsables de leur santé, mais aussi de prendre l'initiative de vivre une vie saine.

What does it really mean to celebrate girls? 🤔

For us, it’s much more than marking October 11 on the calendar and moving on.

It’s about making October a month where girls feel seen, supported, and celebrated, in their schools, in their communities, and through every moment we share with them.

So yes, we’re taking the celebration directly to schools! 🏫

🩸 Across 167 schools in Butanyerera, girls will receive Agateka washable and reusable sanitary pads, thanks to the generous support of UNICEF Burundi and the Ambassade des Pays-Bas au Burundi.

And we couldn't be happier!
Behind those 167 schools are thousands of girls who will be reached, supported, and reminded that their health, dignity, and needs truly matter.

That’s what Girls’ Month is all about: not just a single day, but a whole month filled with actions that put girls first.

🤩 And we’re just getting started! Stay tuned for more activities, more stories, and many more moments worth celebrating.

🥳 October is here, and we are so ready to celebrate girls!

📆 October 11 is International Day of the Girl, a moment to amplify girls' voices, listen to their stories, and focus on what truly matters to them.

🤩 At SaCoDé, one day isn't enough. We're dedicating the entire month to supporting girls' well-being and needs, starting with something close to our hearts: Agateka!

🩸 Thanks to the support of Enabel au Burundi, we’re distributing reusable Agateka pads across 15 schools in Cibitoke and Kirundo.

Access to reliable menstrual products means girls can stay in school comfortably and confidently.

And this is only the beginning… 👀 Stay tuned for more throughout the month!

SaCoDé is at UNGA again this year! We’re proud to be represented by Libère J. Ndacayisaba, PhD, Board Director and Lead of our Research & Learning Committee. 🤝

It’s an opportunity to share our work to eliminate period poverty in Burundi, connecting menstrual health education, reusable products, sanitation, and economic opportunities for women.
