At SWiD, we are making sure children are involved at all stages of interventions through a child-centred approach.

We believe that child protection is not only about safeguarding children from harm, but also about recognising their right to be heard and to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.

By creating safe spaces where children can express themselves freely, we strengthen their confidence, dignity, and resilience. When children participate meaningfully, our interventions become more relevant, more effective, and more sustainable.

Protecting children and listening to them must go hand in hand. Because every child deserves not only to be safe but to be heard.

Gender-based violence is not a private shame , it is a public emergency.
Every act of silence, every time we look away, is another thread woven into the fabric of oppression.

This is not just someone else’s problem. It is ours as neighbors, friends, co-workers, and human beings.
When we ignore the signs, we side with the abuser. When we stay quiet, we help the cycle continue.

We must speak.
We must act.
We must protect.

To every survivor: your voice matters, your story matters, you matter.
To every bystander: your courage can save a life.

Break the silence. Stand up. Say no more.

Early childhood development (ECD) lays the foundation for lifelong health, learning, productivity and well-being. Yet in Eastern and Southern Africa, too many young children are not on track to meet key developmental milestones – missing out on a critical window for growth, learning and opportunity.

That is according to a new report by UNICEF,

Igniting the Potential of Young Children A statistical profile of early childhood development in Eastern and Southern Africa June 24, 2025 Igniting the Potential of Young Children presents the latest evidence on early childhood development (ECD) in Eastern and Southern Africa, offering a comprehensi...
