Peace and Good Leadership Education

Peace and leadership education for future young leaders is essential for several reasons:

1. Conflict prevention: It teaches young people to resolve disputes peacefully, engage in dialogue, and promote tolerance.

2. Developing responsible leaders: It develops skills in communication, emotional management, ethical decision-making, and community service.

3. Encouraging civic engagement: Young people understand their role in society and commit to the common good.

4. Promoting inclusion and social justice: It raises awareness of human rights, equality, diversity, and respect for others.

5. Building sustainable societies: Young leaders trained in peace become builders of stable, supportive, and prosperous communities.

It is a strategic investment for a future free from violence, where young people are agents of positive change.

It is therefore within the framework of making a contribution that the organization Fracade Burundi organized a training on education for peace and leadership for the various young leaders in the North of the economic capital of Burundi, this Saturday, October 11, 2025Simon Guillebaud Speaker/Author Union Européenne au Burundi UDCEH Burundi Jean-francois Loise Ambassade de Belgique au Burundi Ambassade de la République Argentine en France PNUD Burundi Fondation NIYONGABO Ambassade du Duché de Bretagne auprès du Royaume Uni

Protection of the hippos of Lake Tanganyika and the Rusizi River.

Lake Tanganyika and the Rusizi River are prime habitats for hippos. Well-protected areas should be recommended around this habitat, and road traffic regulations should be exceptionally implemented in these areas to effectively promote the sustainable protection of this species. The death of a hippopotamus on Monday, April 14, 2025, is one of the harmful consequences of excessive speeding by some road users, which may be crossed by hippos near their habitat on the RN5.

📌 : A look back at the public awareness session on the importance of fruits and vegetables for health, held on Buringa Hill, one of the hills targeted by the project.

👥This is part of the ongoing activities of the "Support for Environmental Protection through Agroforestry and Development" project, funded by UNDP Burundi and implemented by the consortium including Burundi and in province, Muhuta commune.

The consortium leader reminded the beneficiaries that fruits and vegetables are essential for the body because they provide vitamins and minerals necessary for proper functioning and strengthen the body's defenses against disease.

This approach aims to promote a balanced diet, which not only improves the health of communities but also contributes to their sustainable development. A healthy population is a quality workforce, ready to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizes Jolys Hakizimana.
This awareness-raising session was combined with a visit to the sprouting beds where vegetable seedlings such as eggplant, cabbage, amaranth, and peppers are grown. These seedlings will then be grown in the vegetable gardens of the project's beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries were encouraged to prioritize consuming the fruits and vegetables produced through the project instead of selling them directly at markets. This initiative strengthens food self-sufficiency and family health.

✍️An interactive question-and-answer session helped clarify key points and ensure a better understanding among all participants.
