🤝 JOINING FORCES FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS, PEACE AND EMPOWERMENT

Women’s Hope Association (WHA), WORLD FUTURE ACTIVE , and the Association des Femmes Éveillées pour le Développement et le Leadership (AFEDL) came together to explore a collaborative approach aimed at advancing and protecting the rights of women and girls in Burundi.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the three organizations to discuss potential areas of cooperation and explore the development of a joint initiative focused on peacebuilding, women’s economic empowerment, and the meaningful inclusion and participation of women and girls, particularly in crisis and conflict-affected contexts.

Through this collaboration, WHA, WFA, and AFEDL aim to combine their experience, expertise, and capacities to help create an enabling environment where women and girls are fully recognized and supported as agents of peace, resilience, leadership, and sustainable development.
This initial consultation marks an important step toward building a strong partnership and translating shared commitments into concrete actions that benefit women, girls, and communities across Burundi.

Soil restoration is not only an environmental priority it is also a pathway to women’s economic empowerment. By promoting agroecology, composting, vermicomposting, and sustainable land management, we can restore soil fertility, improve agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and increase women’s resilience to climate change.

At World Future Active, we believe that investing in healthy soils means investing in women and resilient communities. When women have access to productive land, knowledge, sustainable agricultural practices, markets, savings, and economic opportunities, they can generate more income, strengthen their leadership, and contribute to sustainable development. La restauration des sols n’est pas seulement une priorité environnementale : elle constitue également un puissant levier d’autonomisation économique des femmes. En promouvant l’agroécologie, le compostage, le lombricompostage et la gestion durable des terres, nous pouvons restaurer la fertilité des sols, améliorer la productivité agricole, renforcer la sécurité alimentaire et accroître la résilience des femmes face aux changements climatiques.

À World Future Active, nous sommes convaincus qu’investir dans des sols sains, c’est aussi investir dans les femmes et dans la résilience des communautés. Lorsque les femmes ont accès aux terres productives, aux connaissances, aux pratiques agricoles durables, aux marchés, à l’épargne et aux opportunités économiques, elles peuvent accroître leurs revenus, renforcer leur leadership et contribuer pleinement au développement durable. 🌍💚 World Future Active Volunteers Celebrate Their Impact
The World Future Active (WFA) volunteers celebrate their contribution alongside partners and community members in promoting environmental protection, solidarity, and civic engagement.
Through this action, the volunteers reaffirm their commitment to Generation Equality, feminist climate action, and youth leadership, in line with the vision of the Youth Caucus of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
🌱 Together, young people are driving positive change for ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and a sustainable future.

🤝🌍 Strong Partner Mobilization

The celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day brought together a strong participation of different partners committed to solidarity, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
The event brought together representatives from United Nations in Burundi agencies, the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Burundi, the private sector, local and international non-governmental organizations, as well as committed youth and volunteers.
This presence demonstrates the importance of partnerships and collective action in promoting the values of Nelson Mandela, advancing Generation Equality, and contributing to feminist climate justice.

🌱 Youth in Action for the Climate!
Young people from different organizations, together with WORLD FUTURE ACTIVE WFA-volunteers, turned out in large numbers for Nelson Mandela International Day to support the plastic waste clean-up along the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
This action reflects the spirit of Generation Equality: empowering young people to advance feminist climate action, protect the environment, and build a more sustainable future.

Les jeunes de différentes organisations, aux côtés des volontaires de WORLD FUTURE ACTIVE , se sont mobilisés en grand nombre lors de la Journée internationale de Nelson Mandela pour contribuer à la collecte des déchets plastiques sur les rives du lac Tanganyika.
Cette action illustre l'esprit de Generation Equality : une jeunesse engagée pour la justice climatique féministe, la protection de l'environnement et un avenir plus durable.
