🌍🕊️ Celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day – 25 July 2026
WORLD FUTURE ACTIVE joined other non-governmental organizations in celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Burundi and the United Nations System Office in Burundi, in partnership with the Cultural and Tourism Development Initiative.
In the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, this day was marked by concrete actions of solidarity, social justice, and environmental protection, closely aligned with feminist climate action:
♻️ Plastic waste collection along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, an essential initiative for ecosystem protection, driven by an inclusive approach where women and youth play a central role in the fight against the climate crisis.
📚 Distribution of school desks and benches to under-resourced schools, contributing to improved access to quality education—a key driver of the empowerment of girls and young women, who are essential agents of climate action and sustainable development.
The celebration was honored by the presence of representatives from United Nations agencies, the private sector, as well as local and international non-governmental organizations, united around the values of solidarity, community service, and climate justice.
At World Future Active, we reaffirm our commitment to feminist climate action, which recognizes the essential role of women and girls in environmental protection, community resilience, and the building of a sustainable, equitable, and inclusive future, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the spirit of Nelson Mandela.

🌍🕊️ Célébration de la Journée internationale de Nelson Mandela – 25 juillet 2026
World Future Active s'est jointe à d'autres organisations non gouvernementales pour célébrer la Journée internationale de Nelson Mandela, organisée par l'Ambassade de la République d'Afrique du Sud au Burundi et le Bureau du Système des Nations Unies au Burundi, en partenariat avec l'Initiative pour le Développement Culturel et Touristique.
Dans l’esprit de l’héritage de Nelson Mandela, cette journée a été marquée par des actions concrètes de solidarité, de justice sociale et de protection de l’environnement, en lien direct avec l’action climatique féministe :
♻️ Collecte des déchets plastiques le long des rives du lac Tanganyika, une action essentielle pour la protection des écosystèmes, portée par une dynamique inclusive où les femmes et les jeunes jouent un rôle central dans la lutte contre la crise climatique.
📚 Distribution de bancs-pupitres à des établissements scolaires défavorisés, contribuant à améliorer l’accès à une éducation de qualité, levier fondamental de l’autonomisation des filles et des jeunes femmes, actrices clés du changement climatique et du développement durable.
Cette célébration a été rehaussée par la présence de représentants des agences des Nations Unies, du secteur privé, ainsi que d’organisations non gouvernementales locales et internationales, unis autour des valeurs de solidarité, de service communautaire et de justice climatique.
À World Future Active, nous réaffirmons notre engagement en faveur d’une action climatique féministe, qui reconnaît le rôle essentiel des femmes et des filles dans la protection de l’environnement, la résilience communautaire et la construction d’un avenir durable, équitable et inclusif, conformément aux Objectifs de Développement Durable et à l’esprit de Nelson Mandela.
