“On our own, we would not have been able to free ourselves from the prison ; Restoration Burundi came as a great savior".

Those are some of the words repeatedly expressed by Matthew and Edouard after their release from prison thanks to the help of Restoration Burundi.

We thank God for an amazing step Restoration Burundi has taken in its mission to defend and advocate for prisoners with low means, and we are ready to help many more in need.

Kirundi version.

Restobu pursues the psychosocial reintegration of ex-prisoners. After sessions with psychologists aimed at helping them heal from trauma and rebuild self-confidence, they also participated in workshops on business and entrepreneurship.

Now they have been grouped according to each person’s area of business interest such as restaurant services, tailoring, and others. These here are those who chose to learn small commerce. They are currently receiving practical training in small-scale trade and basic business management, and they will be assisted with small start-up capital to begin their activities.

Restobu sincerely thanks everyone who contributes to this journey of restoration hope to help them feel human again.

Today is the third day of the training on trauma healing and biblical counseling organized for pastors through Restoration Burundi organization.

Through the exchange of ideas and the intervention of psychologists, pastors debated the importance and mechanisms of counseling wounded hearts, especially those of prisoners.

According to the psychologists’ view, the particularity of counseling prisoners is based on the fact that this group of people has little or no access to the outside community. They are separated from their families, friends, and even psychologists who would normally listen and comfort them in their struggles.

Pastoral counseling is beneficial to a large number of people, not only prisoners. So, Pastors are called to be good role models in the community by living according to biblical values. This builds people’s trust in them and allows individuals to express their deep emotional pain more freely and comfortably.

"Someone can begin to experience emotional wounds while still in his/her mother’s womb or at any stage of life due to different situations,” said the facilitator.

Today, on the second day of a training for pastors organized by Restoration Burundi, pastors were taught about the types of emotional wounds, their causes, and how they can help someone who is dealing with emotional wounds to be healed.

Restoration Burundi has launched a three-day workshop on the Church’s integral mission for pastors.

Today, February 10, 2026, Gratien Nibigira, the head of Restobu, introduced the session by explaining its main objective. He highlighted how the first Church was deeply united, to the point that believers sold their possessions to support poor people.
He emphasized that preaching only the Word of God without responding to the basic humanitarian needs is an incomplete Gospel. The Church therefore has the responsibility of taking care for vulnerable people such as widows, orphans, prisoners, and others in need , both within the Church and in the wider community.

Prisoners are among the most vulnerable people in need of support of each of us. The majority of them have been abandoned by their families and lost hope for the future, even though God created them with great potential that can be benefit to the society. So, they need people who can show them love, encourage them, and remind them that they are people of worth, and that prison is not the end of life.

Restoration Burundi is a nonprofit Christian Organization focused on peacebuilding , social justice and socio economic development.

"We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will all perish as worthless people" — Said by Gratien Nibigira, the Leader of Restoration Burundi.

On this 7th of February, 2026, at ETS Kamenge High School, Restoration Burundi held a conference on how to live in harmony despite differences.

According to the facilitator of the day, God created people with diversity so that they could help one another. Therefore, differences such as religion, skin color, ethnicity, etc., should not be the root cause of conflict, but a source of strength to achieve development.

Empowering Women for Holistic Development – Maramvya

Restobu continues its mission of empowering low-income women through practical training and holistic support. After the success of the first promotion, we are proud to launch the second cohort of 21 women in Maramvya — all courageous single mothers including divorcees, widows, and unmarried women determined to build a better future.
Through our development cells established across different corners of Burundi, Restobu accompanies some of the most vulnerable church members toward sustainable transformation. In Muramvya, these cells bring together the poorest churchgoers and support them through biblical values training, business skills development, and financial accompaniment.
This model has already produced remarkable results in Mubone, where several beneficiaries have reached inspiring levels of personal and economic growth. Today, the same hope is taking root in Maramvya.
The trainings are held at Bethel Church, a modest reed temple that reflects the humility, resilience, and strength of the surrounding community. From simple beginnings, powerful transformation is underway.

" For now, none of my children sleeps hungry. When I fall sick, I can afford medical care. The goats you gave me have been a real blessing. May God greatly bless you”

That's Mary a former Burundian refugee thanking Restoration Burundi (Restobu).

As part of its community development program, Restoration Burundi provided goats to Burundians who had previously lived as refugees in Rwanda. This initiative took place in Busoni Commune, Butanyerera Province, in 2020.

Today, the beneficiaries express deep gratitude for Restoration Burundi initiative since the goats they received have multipled and that brought a significant improvement of their economy
