530/1898 of the government of Burundi. Greening Burundi opened its doors of environmental preservation being like a Project initiated by Emmanuel Niyoyabikoze. It has led the implementation of several activities related to the maintenance of healthy living environments, intense reforestation activities, information and
awareness sessions on the environment and environmental education, trainings, environmental education guide designs, workshops etc.
1- Vision. The vision underlying Greening Burundi is that of a culture of promotion and protection of the environment, natural resources and the living environment in a
dynamic of sustainable, equitable and clean development. Greening Burundi vision is also to make Burundi Green free from climate change and its impacts and strengthen mutual assistance to citizens in the field of
environmental protection.
2- Mission. The Greening Burundi mission to enhance the protection of the environment, fight against climate change and its impacts by planting millions of trees. Creating peaceful and educated communities in Burundi and beyond, the awareness from children to adults, their supervisors and political decision-makers on the
need to promote at the base the reflexes of protective behaviors of the environment in order to reduce the many threats that weigh on our natural resources and
the living environment through the inclusion of awareness-raising activities in schools for this purpose. Convinced of the essential contribution of the media to raising awareness about the environment, Greening Burundi has since October 2019 set up an exchange
program on adequate environmental protection and awareness-raising measures called «Green Thursdays”. "Green Thursdays" is a program which brings together the population every Thursday to share and exchange knowledge and information on environmental
protection and its credo is to contribute to the awakening of awareness of the populations for better protection of our environment of life. It is intended to be a program of communication and popularization of good practices in ecological protection and restoration of natural resources.
3- Objectives. Greening Burundi aims to:
- to reforest and fight against deforestation;
- involve and empower populations in the rational management of natural resources in the context of climate change;
- fight against the different forms of pollution;
- contribute to cleaning up and improving the living environment of urban and rural populations;
- to help promote the development of children's moral faculties in environmental conservation;
- inform the population of actions carried out in the field of the environment and environmental news in general through a knowledge-sharing and informationsharing program called "Green Thursdays".
