“My name’s Neda, I’m 27 years old and currently live near London. I studied Marine Biology in Stirling, Scotland and then worked for a charity supporting teenagers from less advantaged backgrounds to get into higher education. I now work as a project manager in sustainability consulting.
My GLOW journey started in the language high school in Smolyan where I was encouraged to apply for the Academy by a GLOW alumna I very much looked up to ( 🫶). GLOW helped me develop some of the strongest connections with women in my life - be it mentors, friends (both old and new), future colleagues.
I was a camper in 2015. Then, I was a volunteer, a JC, and trained to be a C. I was an AC for a number of years, supporting with camper recruitment and managing the social media channels of GLOW.
Being a camper at Academy was unique to me as I had never spent a whole week speaking entirely in English or doing so many educational (and fun) activities. I was shy, but as everyone was very friendly, I felt like I belonged, especially as my involvement with the camp increased over the years.
The skills I learned at GLOW still carry me through my personal and professional life: time-management, self-esteem, managing complex projects or events. I now also apply them in my work sustainability project management work, with another GLOW Alumna .shishkova
