International “DEW” Festival to Bring Folklore Groups Together in England in 2027

The International “DEW” Festival will take place from 10 to 14 June 2027 in Crawley, United Kingdom. The event will bring together folk dance ensembles, singing groups and performers of traditional instruments from different countries.

Crawley is located in West Sussex, around 45 km from London and close to Gatwick Airport. The festival programme combines stage performances, international cultural exchange and opportunities for participants to visit some of the most popular places in southern England.

The programme includes an international welcome evening, a visit to London, presentations of participating countries and performances at Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, as well as a cultural celebration in Crawley. Each group will have the opportunity to present a free programme of up to 30 minutes.

Groups from all over the world are welcome to participate, with performers aged 12 and above. The organisers encourage ensembles to bring their national flag and small symbolic gifts for exchange, turning the event not only into a festival stage but also into a meeting point for different cultures and traditions.

Those wishing to take part in the International “DEW” Festival can submit their applications and present the folklore and traditions of their country to an international audience in England.

From 7 to 14 November 2026, the capital of Laos, Vientiane, will host the International Folklore Festival “Land of a Million Elephants – Lan Xang.” The event will bring together performers from different countries for eight days dedicated to music, dance, traditions, and cultural exchange.

The festival takes its name from the ancient Kingdom of Lan Xang, whose name means “Land of a Million Elephants”—a symbol of the strength, wisdom, and national identity of the Lao people. Today, the country captivates visitors with its majestic mountains, the Mekong River, Buddhist temples, ethnic diversity, and centuries-old folklore traditions.

The festival program will take place in Vientiane, a peaceful and welcoming capital located on the banks of the Mekong River. The city combines ancient Buddhist temples, French colonial architecture, and a modern urban atmosphere. Among its most iconic landmarks are the golden stupa Pha That Luang and the Patuxai Monument, often referred to as the Lao Arc de Triomphe.

The festival aims to promote friendship and cultural exchange among nations through music, dance, and traditional arts. Participants will have the opportunity to present the cultural heritage of their countries, exchange creative experience, and establish new international partnerships.

During the festival, participants will take part in three stage performances, cultural workshops, exhibitions, lectures, a visit to the Museum of Lao Art, a sightseeing tour of Vientiane, and meetings with local folklore ensembles. The highlight of the event will be the grand concert on the banks of the Mekong River on 12 November, followed by the official ceremony and the presentation of participation diplomas.

Groups wishing to participate in the International Folklore Festival “Land of a Million Elephants – Lan Xang”should submit their application form by 9 October 2026.

Three Days of Folklore Come Alive in the Film about “Euro Folk-Jiva Voda 2026”

The film “XIV Balkan Championship of Folklore ‘Euro Folk-Jiva Voda 2026’ Hisarya, Bulgaria (Official Film HD)” will premiere on 5 August at 10:00 a.m. Eastern European Time on EurofolkTV and the television channel’s official YouTube channel.

The production captures the most memorable moments from the three festival days in Hisarya, during which more than 220 folklore groups and solo performers transformed the town into a stage filled with songs, dances, customs, and colourful traditions.

The footage takes viewers behind the scenes and into the heart of the championship – from the preparations and excitement before stepping onto the stage to the festive parade and the final award ceremony.

A special place in the film is dedicated to the triumph of the Folk Choir of the “Graovche” Children and Youth Folklore Ensemble from Pernik, which received the “Golden Orpheus” Grand Prix and the title of “Absolute Balkan Champion of Folklore for 2026”.

The film offers an encounter with the performers who keep folklore alive and with the emotion that lingers long after the final note.
