Dear Friends,
Yesterday, on June 5, we celebrated World Environment Day with the RE-PLATE Festival. We put the spotlight on food and food waste, focusing on the simple actions each of us can take to avoid generating organic waste or to reduce it to a minimum.
We showed you practical ways to store different food products properly.
We challenged you to create your own balanced menu, making full use of the food you purchase and, in turn, helping you save money.
Together, we examined expiration dates on product labels and learned how to read and understand them correctly.
We also learned how to organize our refrigerators so that food stays fresh and safe to consume for a longer period.
Our colleagues from ECO CLUSTER BULGARIA delivered interactive presentations and quizzes on topics such as:
Are we living sustainably?
How much waste do we generate?
How much food does the average person in Bulgaria waste per year?
Which types of food are wasted the most?
How much water is required to produce a single product?
How many times do we use paper and cotton bags?
And many other topics that are important for our planet.
Natalia Nikolova once again brought her eco children's workshop to life through Recycle Art Academy – Recycling Art.
Each of these topics offers plenty of opportunities for further exploration and learning.
It is important to pay attention. It is important to be responsible.
Living a healthy lifestyle also means protecting the environment.
Together with our tireless host, actress Bilyana Stoeva, and accompanied by great music, we presented everything through games, challenges, plenty of prizes, and a wonderful atmosphere.
It was both fun and rewarding to be together.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the students of the First Language High School in Varna, who served as facilitators at all activity stations, as well as to the 10th-grade students and their teacher, Ms. Gabriela Yordanova, and an entire class from the Vocational High School of Tourism in Varna, who took part in the festival’s culinary masterclass.
