The International Propeller Club - Fostering International Collaboration within the Global Maritime Framework

October 13–15, 2025 — Lyon, France.
The International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of VARNA was honorably represented at the Annual International Propeller Club Conference by our President, Atanas Atanasov, and esteemed member, Krastin Krastev, MICS. This prestigious event brought together delegates from clubs worldwide, alongside prominent local and international leaders and experts, to address the evolving geopolitical landscape and its impact on the maritime sector.
Key topics of discussion included cybersecurity, decarbonization, and digitalization—critical issues at the forefront of shaping the industry's future.
Graciously hosted in Lyon by the local Propeller Club de Lyon, the conference centered on enhancing cross-sector cooperation and strengthening international relations. It provided a valuable platform for discussing current challenges and exploring practical solutions.

A highlight of the event was the election of Costis Frangoulis as the new President of International Propeller Club — the first non-American to hold this position. We extend our warmest congratulations and wish him every success in this significant role.
We also sincerely thank the outgoing President, Maria Conatser, for her dedicated leadership and steadfast commitment throughout her tenure.

Numerous maritime students from around the world also had the unique opportunity to attend the conference, demonstrating their strong dedication and reaffirming that the industry’s future is in capable hands.

With its unmatched diversity and growing global presence, the International Propeller Club has emerged as a leading force in maritime networking. As part of this international community, The International Propeller Club, Port of VARNA (No 243) remains deeply committed to building meaningful partnerships and fostering collaboration with fellow clubs across the globe. Together, we continue to advance shared goals and uphold the values that unite us.

The International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Varna was proud to launch a new annual tradition — A dedicated day to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of the maritime industry to our community.

Each year, the Propeller Day will spotlight a unique theme that highlights a vital aspect of the maritime industry — from innovation and sustainability to heritage, workforce development, and the valued collaboration among maritime clubs and organizations.
This year’s theme was: TWO PORTS, ONE SPIRIT — Varna and Venice, sailing through history, propelling friendship from Bulgaria to Italy!
Propeller Day (2025) celebrated the enduring partnership between Bulgaria and Italy, recognizing the Maritime Industry as a cornerstone in strengthening economic and cultural ties.
This special occasion was held under the distinguished patronage of the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Varna, and the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria – Mr. Alessandro Geretto.

Event consisted by:
Cruise on board Barkentine “KALIAKRA” (Under kind sponsorship of Smart Design 2006), and a Gala Dinner at Sea Casino Restaurant, Varna.
We have the pleasure to host our esteemed guests from Propeller Club Port of Venice, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Varna. Mr. Alessandro Geretto has been awarded an Honorary membership of the International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Varna.
