"EMOTIONAL SAFETY ACADEMY" under the auspices of Фондация "Солидарност в действие" a 7-day experiential training was held in SolidarityWorks’ Center for Learning, Sharing, and Exchange (CLSE) in the little village of Drugan (Radomir, BULGARIA) in order to make participants "not feel better, but become better at feeling". In other words, the learning goals and objectives were to explore and familiariarize with diverse emotional states of being, facilitate participants into mastering and sustaining emotional safety skills for themselves and others through the practice of authentic relating, radical honesty and compassion, mindful awareness, and somatic-oriented communication tools. The expected learning outcomes include bodily sensations awareness and expression, to encourage deeper and honest intimacy with oneself, to expand one’s own comfort zone and assert as well as adjust personal boundaries, to grow the ability to feel at ease with vulnerability, to take emotional risks in a safe environment, to co-create cooperative conditions through clear decisions based on honesty and consent, to maximize leadership-communication-conflict navigation skill sets. Emotional triggers and how to deal with them every time we fall in their trap were also a strong and challenging topic. The technique of R.A.I.N. (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nature) was presented and practised as a concrete tool to cater for negative overwhelming feelings and focus on being less hard on ourselves.
Moldova, Slovenia, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Georgia, Palestine, Greece, Kosovo, Bulgaria.
Participants would also engage in different games, like how to draw the perfect moon or the card game with bunnies etc. Moreover, there were daily alternating house chores groups (Earth, Water, Wind, Fire) which allowed participants to keep up the standards of common living in the house, activity spots, garden and so on.
Overall, Emotional Safety Academy was a challenging and impactful journey of self-exploration and self-improvement, it had powerful effects on everyone, magically created bonds and memories and attained the high standards of an Erasmus+ training mobility. Many thanks for the whole experience/experiment/self-knowledge expedition to organizer/co-ordinator Maggie Nazer and the two amazing facilitarors Silvana Paneva and Teodora Zareva. And of course, my gratefulness to all the participating "rabbits" for their willingness to dig inside, open up, share, listen, comfort and support, have fun!
All participants were entitled to receive the European Youthpass certificate , for recognition of their competence development during the training activities.
