Tonight, Bulgaria made history. 🇧🇬

For the very first time, Bulgaria has won the Eurovision Song Contest — and what a victory it was. DARA brought energy, emotion, courage and unmistakable Bulgarian spirit to the Eurovision stage with “Bangaranga”, making all Bulgarians around the world proud.

Eurovision has always been more than music. It is about identity, culture, creativity and connection between nations. This year, Bulgaria showed Europe — and the world — that talent from a small country can create a huge impact.

Congratulations to DARA, the entire Bulgarian team, and everyone who believed this moment was possible. 🇧🇬

And what a beautiful Top 5 this was — Bulgaria, Israel, Romania, Australia and Italy — proving once again that music has no borders. Special respect as well to Australia, a country on the other side of the world that continues to bring passion, quality and heart to Eurovision year after year. 🇦🇺❤️

Tonight was not Bulgaria vs Australia or Bulgaria vs the others.
Tonight was Bulgaria with Europe. Bulgaria with the world.

From Vienna to Sofia — this victory will inspire a whole new generation to dream bigger, create boldly and believe that impossible things can happen.

Congratulations, Bulgaria. Congratulations, DARA.
History has been written tonight.

Long awaited… and finally here. 🎉

The EU–Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has now been officially signed — a major step forward in strengthening ties between Australia and Europe.

This is more than just a trade deal. It opens the door to new opportunities in energy, innovation, technology, and investment, and creates the foundation for deeper business collaboration.

While the agreement still needs to be ratified, the direction is clear — and the time to start preparing is now.

At BABC, we see strong potential for new partnerships and look forward to supporting our members in navigating these opportunities.

EU–Australia FTA enters final stage 🇪🇺🇦🇺

A major step forward in EU–Australia relations is underway, as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is expected to visit Australia in the coming days, with negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement now in the final stretch.

After years of discussions—and a pause in 2023—momentum has clearly returned. The agreement is expected to unlock substantial economic opportunities on both sides.

What this means: • Stronger trade flows between the EU and Australia
• Improved market access for key sectors (agriculture, manufacturing, energy)
• Reduced tariffs and regulatory barriers
• Enhanced resilience and diversification of supply chains

For the Bulgarian-Australian Business Council (BABC) and the wider ABIE network, this is a strategically important development. It opens the door for deeper collaboration, new partnerships, and expanded business opportunities across Europe and Australia.

At a time of global uncertainty, this agreement sends a clear signal in support of open, rules-based trade.

We will be closely following the finalisation of the FTA and its implications for our members and partners.

Today, 3 March, we honour the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria. 🇧🇬

On this historic date in 1878, the Treaty of San Stefano marked the restoration of Bulgarian statehood and the beginning of a new chapter in our nation’s history.

We remember with gratitude the courage and sacrifice of all who contributed to Bulgaria’s liberation. Their legacy continues to guide us — reminding us that freedom carries both pride and responsibility.

May this day unite us in respect for our past and confidence in our future.

Happy National Day, Bulgaria. 🇧🇬

There are evenings you attend.
And there are evenings you feel. ✨

On 5 February 2026, BABC celebrated its 8th anniversary — Australia Meets Bulgaria: A Night of Cultural Connection — and what unfolded was far more than an event. It was intention in action.

From the very first arrivals at Laura, NDK Sofia, the room carried that rare kind of energy — diplomats in meaningful dialogue with entrepreneurs, long-standing Australian friends reconnecting, new partnerships forming naturally between conversations and glasses of wine.

The programme reflected exactly that spirit — refined, thoughtful, and genuinely moving.
The musical presence of Campbell Diamond, the reflections from our distinguished speakers, and the powerful cultural dialogue between Australian classical guitar and Bulgarian rock created moments that went beyond protocol and into connection.

But beyond the agenda.
Beyond the cake marking eight years of the Bulgarian-Australian Business Council.

What truly defined the evening was the people in the room.

People who lead.
People who build.
People who believe that dialogue matters.

This is what BABC stands for —
Building bridges through people, trust, and shared experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to our official guests, speakers, performers, partners, sponsors, and every attendee who contributed to the atmosphere and meaning of the night. Your presence made the difference.
