Do you have insights on the evidence of the effects of carbon credits and offsets on nature and people? We’d love to hear from you!
Across the world, communities, researchers, and practitioners are seeing how nature-based carbon projects are shaping ecosystems and livelihoods - for better and for worse. We are currently conducting a rapid evidence assessment on the ecological and social impacts of carbon credits and offsets, with a strong focus on biodiversity, ecosystem integrity, equity, justice, and the rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and other rightsholders such as women and youth.
If you are part of an organization, network, Indigenous Peoples’ organization, local community group, women’s or youth group, civil society organization, research institution, or an individual expert, your knowledge matters. Your contribution can help inform better governance, stronger safeguards, and more just and effective approaches to biodiversity and climate action. The assessment outcomes are expected to inform ongoing discussions under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and to be later consolidated in a scientific paper.
We are especially looking for grey literature: field reports, case studies, evaluations, and other practice-based evidence that may not be widely published but holds critical insights. We warmly invite you to reach out or submit your work.
