The establishing of THE BALKAN ARCHITECTURE FORUM (abbreviated BAF), started on 18/03/2018 in Sofia - Bulgaria upon the initiative of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria (UAB) and under the patronage of: International Union of Architects (UIA), Ministry for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2018 (MBPAE2018) and Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) o

f Bulgaria; with the participation of President of the International Union of Architects and representatives of professional organizations of architects and embassies of Balkan countries, has been finalized on 07/10/2019 in Podgorica - Montenegro. BAF continues the tradition of the Balkan Conference, which was established in 1966 in Sofia, under the patronage of the International Union of Architects and UNESCO and held fourteen editions in different Balkan capital cities by 2017. BAF is an international, public, non-political, voluntary association on public benefit. As such, BAF acts at national, regional and international level, and may also be a member and participant in other international organizations and events.

БАЛКАНСКИТ АРХИТЕКТУРЕН ФОРУМ - БАФ - written in Cyrillic and in Latin - BALKAN ARCHITECTURE FORUM - BAF, is open to the national organizations of the architects from all the Balkan Countries which identify as such on geographical principle, to the members of these organizations and to all competent architects, landscape architects and interior designers, urban planners and urbanists from the Balkan countries, as well as other parties with interest who adopt the BAF Statute and Regulations and are involved in the problems and development of the region. The members of BAF set themselves a GOAL that with a common effort to contribute to improving the quality of life, combating climate changes and integrating sustainable development of the Balkans in line with the current challenges facing the Western Balkan Countries in their preparation for EU membership and for the implementation of joint initiatives for territorial cohesion, economic prosperity and social security. The professional organizations-members of the Balkan Architecture Forum from the Western Balkan countries -Albania, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia are collective member of the International Union of Architects - UIA.
