Our project Save Sinemorets (now Save Strandzha) began as a youth initiative of a few friends that have grown up around Sinemorets village, or how we call it - "the big blue." Inspired from the work of various activists and ecologists, we created this page as an act of starting a dialogue - with citizens, institutions and non-governmental organisations - to do something about the unique nature - b
efore it is too late. We founded our association - Save Strandzha, for more effective action in protecting the nature of Sinemorets, the Black Sea Coast and Strandzha National Park. Our work focuses on monitoring of environmental policies enacted by the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and other public actors, as well as taking further legal, administrative and public action to protect the nature of the region, and ensure its sustainable development. The aim of our association is to share information about the problems of Sinemorets and Strandzha in plain language. These issues are by themselves not unique - they illustrate the reality of systematic environmental inaction when it comes to balancing the preservation of nature and economic profit. With our work we want to create dialogue and civic pressure for institutions to do their part in saving Strandzha. We believe that environmental law should be followed and further improved in a way that ensures the preservation of nature and sustainable development. To best protect the public interest, we believe that all stakeholders must be part of the discussion.
