Sadly, we said our final goodbyes to Betty last night😥

Jules had only gone shopping to Lidl in 2023 and came back with her in the car! She was another abused ex hunting dog, likely used to breed from for the bulk of her life, She had quite severe hip dysplasia as a result, so not rehomable though her hip problems, were amongst other issues she had.

But Betty discovered quite quickly after she arrived that she absolutely had to have even the briefest of cuddles, every single day, otherwise it felt like her world was going to end. Sometimes if I was busy and forgot, she would be unsettled and follow me about, till I realised the error of my ways. So last night she had her final kiss and the hugest cuddle for being the bestest girl ever, before going over the bridge, before her pain got to bad.

So give your pooches a big hug, it does mean the world to them and you are their world💔

Here are the pictures of this morning festive dinner, it was a bit manic getting them all down and getting pictures, a few are missing (including 2 in long term foster with friends) but we managed to get most, even the 3 rescue kittens and the cat who we brought over after we moved as she'd been attacked, but she's still sticking around.

Several eat theirs placed in a bed so it doesn't slide around the floor and know it's their safe feeding place, some aren't bothered where they have it along as they get it!

Preparation has begun the first of 3 batches to be made today, as I am away for Christmas this year the doggies Christmas dinner will be tomorrow ❤️
So first lot of veg done and cooked 2nd lot is already on the just one more lot.
First lot of Chickens in the slow cooker, which will generate plenty of stock as their gravy.

Just a quick update, which I've been meaning to do for weeks, on the 3 kittens that we found abandoned by the mum.

After what seemed like years of handfeeding them but was actually only less than a few weeks, they all seem to be thriving. The smallest had a bit of a reaction when they were wormed, Si found her collapsed and she was very cold but still alive, but he managed to get her through that but she hasn't gotten as big as the other two, we named her (Moaning) Myrtle as even from small she was always a chatterbox, the other multicolored is called Elsie and the grey tabby is called Flo.

They are all quite friendly and come to you, Flo is a bit more of an adventurer than the others and doesn't come quite as readily but they all love a bit of fuss.

If anyone is interested in adopting one let us know!

We normally struggle with cats, as a number of the other 'residents' have strong prey drive and they wouldn't be safe, so regardless, they're going to have the run of the cellar until the weather warms up then hopefully Si will have finished building them a cattery outside for them to go into.

In other news, preperation has already started on the 23 dogs annual christmas dinner, which will consist of a selection of veg, potatoes and some lamb and chicken 'bits and some meat pies, lucky animals.

Thank you everyone who has supported and donated to us, be it clothes, items to sell and loose change and for the support at our auctions this year, not so many have been rehomed in the UK this year, but we have still taken in those that can't be rehomed or those that their owners have sadly passed away, which is why our numbers still remain quite high.

Thank you to Brighter Days Rescue rescue for those that have been lucky enough to go to the UK this year.

Dave has left the building!

Happy tears this afternoon. Dave has been picked up to travel to his new home in the UK with Laura and another Paws pup, Izzy.

Lots of tears this morning, as sadly the pup that was hit by the car last Monday, didn't make it😥

She passed away in early hours this morning, sometime after I checked her at about 2am. Not sure whether it was the car hitting her (though it wouldn't have helped) but our vet discovered several underlying health problems as the week went on. She had a barrage of test from full blood work to testing for heartworm but her kidneys failing was what maybe killed her😥

She'd lost her coordination after the accident, so she'd been camping out in the kitchen on a big comfy blanket and everyday I'd carry her out to the car, talking to her as I went and without fail she'd still be wagging her tail😥

The fact that she was still wagging her tail gave me hope that she hadn't given up, but her health had other ideas.

Give your doggos a big hug today, they're never with us for long enough!

Run free over the bridge baby girl, you're in good company and at least you knew love🌈

Lovely Dave has found his forever home❤️ and will be travelling in a couple of weeks.
He will be going to live in the UK with Izzy one of our rescue dogs from a few years ago.
A trip to the vet last week to be neutered and tests done and he is good to go.
Thank you Laura for adopting him, he is such a lovely laid back boy .

Hi All,
There is a little lost soul that lives on the streets of Tsenovo (a small town not far from me).
He has been shunned by dogs and people alike and I'm worried that soon he might be disposed of!
He's friendly and submissive about 10 months old? And desperately needs a home.
I feed him occasionally but I can't take him in permanently.
Could anyone possibly give him a home?
I would arrange everything if someone would take him.
