We received this wonderful update from her adopters in Buxtehde, Germany yesterday (she is now named Neige, FYI):
"Training & Wheelchair Setup
The configuration: The photos show how the wheelchair needs to be adjusted for Neige to move around optimally. I'm also including pictures of the wheelchair without the dog, in case you'd like to replicate the setup.
The video: Here you can see Neige back in her wheelchair after a long break. We had to take the break because we were ill and couldn't train with her. She's made surprising progress despite the break.
Even though we couldn't actively train her, Neige has shown great initiative:
Muscle building: She has continued to build muscle and is increasingly moving around the house without her wheelchair.
Strength: She can even lift her bottom on her own sometimes now.
Active movement: It's especially encouraging that she's starting to move both hind legs independently (a little more on the right than the left). We're encouraging this further to improve her mobility around the house.
Success with bladder management
We have some very positive news here as well:
We are now stimulating her until she urinates on her own.
When we check her bladder afterward (express it), it is almost always completely empty. This shows that the stimulation is working exceptionally well.
We are very pleased with this progress and will continue to monitor it!"
We will keep updating you in this beautiful strong girl's progress.
