The Association of Guest Houses in Bulgaria (AKGB) is a union of private owners of family-run accommodations, including guest houses, villas, holiday estates and small hotels. The mutual trait of our accommodations is the authentic atmosphere they offer by binding together the renowned architecture and interior of the traditional Bulgarian house with the comfort of modern amenities. The mission of
our members is to focus on activities connected with eco and cultural tourism, away from the mass tourism that is typical for the large holiday resorts. Small accommodations achieve this by offering first-person experience that lets tourists discover by their own the beauty of Bulgaria – its untouched nature, rich history, preserved customs and numerous historic sites. Besides sustainable tourism, house owners have also something else to offer – many of them grow organic fruits and vegetables from which they produce homemade jams, juices, specialties like lyutenitza and other dishes, as well as dairy products made of milk from free-range livestock. Such kinds of bio-products are produced only in limited quantities and cannot be found in the supermarket. That is why guest houses are one of the few places where tourists can taste real food with no preservatives and can buy a jar or two with it for a keepsake. It is not unusual if guests are invited to join the family dinner – it will be for sure an exciting moment filled with pleasant chat, delicious food, new acquaintances and a lot of new emotions. Whether it is about for that kind of experience, or for the beautiful sights nearby, it will be a stay always remembered in memories.
