Венцислав Нанов: „В изложбата за мен стои въпросът как би изглеждал един „антиархив“ – архив на отсъствието, на мълчанието и на това, което не е достигнало до нас.“
Йордан Николов: „Изложбата показва една инсталация, която спекулира с въпроса: ‘Ами ако имахме куиър архив(и)?’“

We speak with visual artists Ventsislav Nanov and Yordan Nikolov about Archive of Erasure – Ventsislav’s multimedia installation, curated by Yordan, at Depoo Gallery in Sofia.
Ventsislav Nanov: “For me, the exhibition raises the question of what an ‘anti-archive’ might look like – an archive of absence, silence, and everything that has failed to reach us.”
Yordan Nikolov: “The exhibition presents an installation that speculates on the question: ‘What if we had q***r archive(s)?’”

Докато вълната на фашизма ни залива все повече, куиър активисти и артисти като Ангелина Летникова/Angelica Summer от години работят за колективното ни отфашизиране - не пропускайте този изключително важен разговор: “Няма безопасен консерватизъм, както няма безопасен с**с. (EN/BG) Angelica Summer: q***r antifascist singer-songwriter, poet, performance artist, and vlogger: “There’s no such thing as safe conservatism, just like there’s no such thing as safe s*x. To me, ‘conservatism’ is just a very gentle, delicate way of saying ‘fascism.’ Maybe what happened in Plovdiv is only the beginning if we don’t wake up, come to our senses, and start working together. Cis straight white people, hello! I think by now you can all see what we’ve been talking about for years. Let’s come together and work together – horizontally and intersectionally.”

(BG/EN) Боби Герасимов - изследовател и дългогодишен доброволец в областта на човешките права и миграцията: “За нас, куиър хората, в обществото се говори, че сме болни или вредни, или разнасяме зарази, или искаме да унищожим националните традиции и идентичност; за мигрантите се говорят в голяма степен същите неща и обикновено от абсолютно същите хора – че са вредни, носят зарази, имат различни ценности, искат да унищожат националните ни традиции и да разводнят европейската идентичност… Какъв психологически механизъм позволява на един куиър човек да си мисли ‘нещата, които казват за нас, са пълни глупости, изобщо не сме такива и не може така да се обобщава; но нещата, които казват за мигрантите, са верни’?”

Bobby Gerasimov - researcher and human rights activist: “About us, q***r people, society says that we are sick or harmful, that we spread disease, or that we want to destroy national traditions and identity; migrants are talked about in much the same way, usually by exactly the same people: that they are dangerous, carry diseases, have different values, want to destroy our national traditions, and dilute European identity…
What psychological mechanism allows a q***r person to think, ‘The things they say about us are complete nonsense – we’re nothing like that, and you can’t generalize about people that way, but the things they say about migrants are true’?”

(BG/EN) Марко Видал Гонсалес – преводач, поет и издател, основател на La Tortuga Búlgara:
„У Вутимски, освен хомос**суалното, видях нещо, което много ме докосна – смесването на личното, социалното и политическото. Харесвам социално ангажираната поезия, както и тази, която показва най-интимните чувства на човека. У Вутимски намерих и двете неща... Реално само любителите на поезията от XX век, както и завършилите българска филология, знаят за него. А пък неговата поезия е много актуална.“

С Марко говорим за срещата му с Александър Вутимски, за превода и издаването на творчеството му на испански и за това защо един от най-ранните открито хомос**суални поети в България остава толкова актуален и днес.

Marco Vidal González – translator, poet, publisher, and founder of La Tortuga Búlgara:
“In Vutimski, beyond the homos*xual element, I found something else that really moved me – the way he brings together the personal, the social, and the political. I like socially engaged poetry, but I also like poetry that reveals a person’s most intimate feelings. In Vutimski, I found both... The truth is, hardly anyone knows about him... And yet his poetry feels incredibly relevant today.”

Marco talks with QS about his first encounter with Aleksandar Vutimski, translating and publishing his work in Spanish, and why one of Bulgaria’s earliest openly gay poets still feels so strikingly contemporary today.

Activist and educator Ivelina Panicharova speaks with Q***r Sofia about the brutal attack on a young man in Plovdiv who died from his injuries after being assaulted by a fascist youth group:

“When the first reports suggested that Georgi might have been gay, I was terrified. I started checking whether my friends were alive and mentally going through people I knew in Plovdiv’s community: ‘Wasn’t that guy’s name Georgi too?’ There is nothing comparable to that feeling - checking whether your friends are still alive because there is a real possibility that one of them has become a victim. That is the reality for many people in the community. We also remember the murder of Mihail Stoyanov. According to the perpetrators, he had ‘looked gay’ to them, and they had gone to the park to ‘clean it of gays.’ It’s monstrous... We don’t need to know every detail in order to condemn a group beating, humiliation, and vigilante violence.

The facts matter for the investigation and for determining individual criminal responsibility. But we don’t have to wait until the end of a court case to say that no one has the right to lure people into traps, punish them, or turn violence into a spectacle.

Silence is not a neutral position when someone has been killed. Silence kills - the silence of society, and the silence in these children’s homes. Perhaps no one ever asked them how they spent their days outside or what they were doing on their computers. Perhaps some adults silently approved... don’t know what Georgi’s s*xual orientation was, and I don’t think we need to know in order to say something very clearly: no one deserves to be lured into a trap, humiliated, beaten, and killed.

Most importantly, protecting children cannot mean turning them into bait, investigators, judges, and executioners. Exposing minors to s*xual content and dangerous encounters and then presenting that as heroism is not child protection.

When society begins calling vigilante justice a “cause,” public humiliation “civic activism,” and violence “protection,” the next victim becomes only a matter of time.”
