💠The 7th BCThubs Plenary Meeting successfully took place in Malta on 20–21 April 2026!

Project partners came together to present key scientific and technological advancements, ensuring that all activities remain on track and aligned with the project’s objectives.

A highlight of the meeting was the dedicated session "Best Practices as Catalysts for Collaboration, Knowledge Exchange and Synergies." 🤝

We were honoured to network with exceptional Best Practices, each bringing unique value to the BCT Excellence Hubs and the wider Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) sector:
🚢 Wrecks4All (Presented by our BCThubs associatedpartner from University of Montenegro, Darko Kovacevic) | A proven model for digital valorisation and sustainable UCH tourism.
🎓 INNO2MARE (Presented by Dr. Goran Vukelić from University of Rijeka) | VRtraining for maritime safety and blue skills development.
🛰️ THETIDA (Presented by Dr. Panagiotis Michalis from ICCS Greece) | ClimateResilience and real-time monitoring for coastal heritage.
🏛️ Malta Digital Innovation Authority (Presented by Dr. Gordon Pace) | Malta's National AI Strategy as a policy enabler for digital heritage innovation.

What's next?
These engagements are already translating into concrete collaboration pathways, including:
✅ Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and endorsements
✅ Joint events and capacity-building workshops
✅ Co-designed project proposals for continued innovation in UCH preservation and technology development

🚀 The Blue Futures Lab is officially underway!

Yesterday, April 8,marked a significant milestone for our as we formally kicked off the Blue Futures Lab entrepreneurial mentoring programme with four exceptional candidates from Malta, Egypt, Bulgaria, and South Africa!

The kick-off event, expertly organised by Superintendence of Cultural Heritage , brought together our talented cohort of innovators and our dedicated team of mentors from , DAN Europe (Divers Alert Network Europe) , and Institute Of Tourism Studies - ITS for the very first time.

A special thank you to our lead mentor, Damian Xuereb (assigned by SCH), who guided us through the mentoring journey with an interactive and inspiring presentation - setting the stage for the transformative work ahead.

We are excited to witness these innovative ideas evolve into investment-ready ventures that will contribute to Malta's blue economy and the preservation of our underwater cultural heritage.

We are truly inspired by the great response and the diversity of contributions received from researchers, innovators, and professionals working across the Blue Economy and Underwater Cultural Heritage.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared their work and ideas with us. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help shape meaningful discussions and collaborations during the conference.

The review process now begins, and authors will soon be notified of the results.
