The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation is one of six non-profit political organizations in the Federal Republic of Germany. Its large range of political education - founded on the Christian idea of man and humanistic values - promotes citizens’ engagement in democracy, rule of law, and social market economy. With numerous development projects and fosterage of international exchange of opinion, the foundation
supports international understanding. The foundation entertains approximately 90 projects in about 60 countries around the world. In the “service of democracy, peace, and development”, the work of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation concentrates on the consolidation of free democratic basic order, on the assurance of peace, and on the support for international understanding. The overall objective of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in West Africa is to contribute to decentralisation, democratisation and conflict prevention. The main target group is the civil society of the project countries. Through capacity building workshops, trainings and information exchange platforms the civil society is empowered for a greater participation in political, social and economic processes. The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation supports local partners in their efforts to realise such greater inclusion of the civil society on the national, regional and local level. One of the primary tools is civic education, enabling society to claim basic elements including transparency, integrity and democratic behaviour to be part of the policy making processes of their countries. La Fondation Hanns Seidel est l’une des six organisations politiques non-gouvernementales de la République Fédérale d'Allemagne. Sa large gamme d'éducation politique basée sur l'idée chrétienne de l’Homme et des valeurs humanistes favorise l'engagement des citoyens dans la démocratie, l’Etat de droit et l'économie sociale de marché. Avec de nombreux projets de développement et d’échange international d’opinion, la fondation encourage la compréhension entre les peuples. La fondation entretient plus de 90 projets dans environ 60 pays à travers le monde. « Au service de la démocratie, de la paix et du développement », le travail de la Fondation Hanns Seidel se focalise sur la consolidation démocratique, sur l’assurance de la paix et sur la promotion de la compréhension entre les peuples. L’objectif global de la Fondation Hanns Seidel en Afrique de l’Ouest est de contribuer à la décentralisation, la démocratisation et la prévention des conflits. A travers des ateliers de renforcement de capacités, des formations et des plates-formes d’échange, le groupe cible principal, la société civile, est habilitée à participer davantage dans les processus politiques, sociaux et économiques. La Fondation Hanns Seidel soutient les partenaires locaux dans leurs effortsde promouvoir unemeilleure intégration de la société civile au niveau national, régional et local. L'éducation civique constitue un des outils principaux rendantune sociétéapte à revendiquer les éléments de base comme la transparence, l'intégrité et le comportement démocratique.
