An athlete may compete in the Veteran’s Category from the beginning of the calendar year in which they turn 45.
This is stated in the FEI Jumping Rules 2026, Art. 205.3.4
For CSIV Veteran Competitions, there is an additional requirement: the rider must not have competed during the current year in an international jumping competition where the height in the first round, according to the schedule, exceeds 1.35 m. For the European Veteran Championship, this 1.35 m restriction applies to both the current and the previous year.
