WHY ? Tervuren and surroundings are suffering non-stop heavy concentration of air traffic, which risks to become permanent due to a current review of flight routes. These flight routes are
- ARBITRARY: they are not situated in the extension of take off runways and not justifiable for technical or security reasons
- DISCRIMINATORY: the proximity of Zaventem airport benefits to all surrounding inhabitants. This situation is not only unfair, it has a significant impact on our HEALTH. Exposure to excessively concentrated airplane noise affects heart, sleep and concentration. This is a matter of URGENCY because:
- Air traffic from and to Brussels airport is planned to INCREASE considerably in next years.
- Flight routes are currenly being revised and any changes will become more COMPLICATED as from June 2016 due to the application of a European Regulation.
- No action risks to only perpetuate and WORSEN current situation as air traffic increases. However, in doing so we can only be successful if we can demonstrate widespread support.
