YABS Network A community setup to help the find themselves, connect, learn and develop into

YABs Network is a community setup to help young Africans and the youth of African descent find themselves, connect with our peers, and learn about the world, so that we can develop into valuable contributing members of our societies. We aim to accomplish this through various programs about different topics such as cultural awareness, academic and professional skills, entrepreneurship and mentorshi

p. Furthermore, to enhance and grow our community, we currently organise networking events and conferences. YABs Network, a registered NGO in Antwerp, Belgium, was established by young people for young people. We encourage and welcome the youth to join us, in any way possible, so that today we can shape our tomorrow, for we are truly the future. Our members can count on building a diverse network, whether professional or social through us. In return, YABs Network will provide its members a community on which they can turn to when in search of personal, academic or professional advice, and support in finding out on how to overcome the challenges that they are facing.

Proud moment for Yabs Network!

Yesterday, our founder Oscar Asamoah presented his final project at HoGent, successfully completing his training in fundraising for non-profit organizations.

This wasn’t just another certificate.

Oscar took on this learning journey with one goal in mind: to strengthen Yabs Network and turn it into a thriving, impactful organization that truly serves the African diaspora in Belgium and beyond.

He believes that with the right tools, structure, and community, we can unlock the massive potential within our diaspora — supporting the next generation of changemakers, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

Op 07/02 stelt Tuly Salumu haar roman "Bintje" voor in de bib van Sint-Niklaas!

Hier alvast een kleine sneak peak van haar boek:

Ik ben het gelukkigst als ik vader in de verte naar me toe zie lopen. In de ruimte tussen verwachting en ontmoeting ligt een hele wereld open waarin hij de man van mijn kinderdromen is.
Het is een breekbaar tijdsvenster, dat snel aan diggelen wordt geslagen. Door andere mensen, door hemzelf.

Bintje groeit op in de jaren negentig, in de rijzige appartementsblokken van de provinciestad, die troosteloos ogen voor de meeste omstanders, maar voor Bintje een leven lang verbonden zullen blijven met de geur van pili-pili, het ritme van
rumba en het geluid van haar vaders tikmachine.

Vader. Een man die zich verliest in God en drankzucht, die zacht en gewelddadig is, steevast aan- en afwezig, een levende contradictie. Ondanks Bintjes adoratie slaagt ze er niet in om deel uit te maken van zijn leven. Wanneer zij jaren later zelf moeder wordt en zich realiseert dat haar eigen kind in niets op zichzelf of haar vader lijkt, slaan de stoppen door en stevent ze af op hetzelfde destructieve pad dat haar vader bewandelde.
