NL: Wij vernamen het compleet onverwachte nieuws dat de economische steunmaatregel Screen Flanders vanaf 2027 wordt afgeschaft.

Gezien het belang van de Screen Flanders-steun voor een economisch duurzame sector, zijn wij in shock en betreuren wij deze ingreep enorm. Het wegvallen van Screen Flanders zal vérstrekkende gevolgen hebben voor de continuïteit van onze productiehuizen, facilitaire bedrijven en professionals actief in de Vlaamse audiovisuele sector.

Dankzij investeringen van Screen Flanders kon de federale tax shelter optimaal ingezet worden voor Vlaanderen. Wij hopen dan ook dat dit enorme hefboomeffect niet wordt genegeerd. Eén euro steun van Screen Flanders levert maar liefst 8 euro aan audiovisuele uitgaven op in het Vlaams Gewest.

We were informed on Wednesday that the Screen Flanders economic support measure will be discontinued as of 1 January 2027.

Every €1 invested by Screen Flanders has resulted in approximately €8 of audiovisual expenditure in Flanders. In 2025 alone, Screen Flanders invested €4.9 million in 22 projects, generating more than €40.2 million in audiovisual spending in the region. We sincerely hope that this proven multiplier effect will not be overlooked.

🎬 Ontdek de SF-gesteunde actiefilm 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙚 nu in de bioscoop!

Suleyman komt na zeven jaar vrij uit de gevangenis, vastberaden om zijn leven weer op te pikken. Zijn thuis, het appartementsblok Paradise, is in de tussentijd helemaal verloederd en ingenomen door drugsdealers en gangsters.

Uitgerekend vandaag beslist de politie Paradise te bestormen. Suleyman raakt gevangen in het geweld, met maar één doel: terug bij zijn moeder geraken en haar in veiligheid brengen. Samen met rookie politieagent Yasmine knokt hij zich verdieping per verdieping naar boven.

📣Call voor co-productiemarkt When East Meets West 2027, met focus op Benelux & Polen

Flanders Image en Screen Flanders ondersteunen de deelname van Vlaamse filmprojecten aan When East Meets West in Trieste (17-19 januari 2027).
Deze coproductiemarkt is een belangrijke stap richting internationale coproductie, financiering en distributie van Europese speelfilms.

De eerste call is nu geopend en loopt tot 10 oktober 2026. Producenten dienen hun project rechtstreeks bij WEMW aan te melden en worden onafhankelijk geselecteerd door de curatoren.

De Screen Flanders-gesteunde film Le Faux Soir van Michaël R. Roskam is de officiële slotfilm van de 53e editie van Film Fest Gent. In aanwezigheid van cast en crew zal de film het festival afsluiten op zaterdag 17 oktober.
