Social Economy Europe is the EU-level representative institution for the social economy. SEE was set up in November 2000, under the name of CEP-CMAF.

Social Economy Europe (SEE) is the EU level representative institution for the social economy. We aim to promote the social and economic input of the social economy enterprises and organisations, to promote the role and values of social economy actors in Europe and to reinforce the political and legal recognition of the social economy and of cooperatives, mutual societies, associations and foundations (CMAF) at EU level.

🔋 The Citizen Energy Advisory Hub (CEAH) has announced an extension to the second call for its Technical Assistance programme, which will run until 11.59 PM CEST on Friday 16 October 2026.

👉 The CEAH Technical Assistance will provide hands-on support to 120 citizen energy initiatives across the EU to help build a more decarbonised, decentralised and democratic energy system.

🙋 We are in Cork for the WISESHIFT Project consortium meeting!

💭 It's been a great time for enriching discussions, exchanges, and collaborative work with partners, bringing together researchers and social economy networks, including European Network of Social Integration Enterprises - ENSIE and RREUSE. We’ve shared insights, research findings and the latest EU policy developments, and explored how the research can connect with what is happening on the ground and be useful to and the communities they work in.

👉 Our Director, Sarah de Heusch, joined the discussions to talk about the upcoming MFF negotiations and what they could mean for the social economy. She highlighted the risk that social priorities, including the social economy, will receive less funding and stressed the need to keep social priorities at the heart of the EU’s future agenda.

Yesterday, our Director, Sarah de Heusch, who is a delegate to the EESC - European Economic and Social Committee's Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI), attended a session of this EESC body.

💬 Among the key issues discussed were:
🤖 How to integrate humanoid robots in the near future in industry and in our daily lives.
♻️ The importance of building a skilled workforce prepared to support the transition towards a more circular economy.
♀️ An exchange on gender equality in the context of the European Gender Equality Week.

Last week, we went to Venice to participate in the 25th FEBEA - European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks and Financiers Annual Conference, hosted by Banca Etica.

👀 Have you seen the logo of the Strengthening Social Economy Networks for Impact and Resilience (SENIR) project? Any clue what the idea behind it is? 🤔

💪 Inspired by the Fibonacci spiral, a symbol of organic growth and resilience, the logo represents the continuous and strong development of the social economy ecosystem

🔺 The triangles, which gradually increase in size, represent the diversity and connection of its members.

🤗 Together, the triangles form a strong and structured whole, where every member can feel a sense of belonging. Its continuous movement symbolises connectivity and knowledge sharing.

🎨 The colour palette combines golden yellow, teal, dark blue and magenta. Each colour has a meaning: shared prosperity (yellow), trust, innovation and stability (blues), and creative and inclusive leadership (magenta).

📢 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁, 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

🙋 Social Economy Europe welcomes several important steps:
✅ A dedicated chapter on Socially Responsible Public Procurement, explicitly recognising the promotion of the social economy as an objective
✅ A dedicated chapter on Green Public Procurement
✅ A stronger Best Price-Quality Ratio (with margin of improvement)
✅ Introduction of European Preference
✅ Stronger consideration of division into lots, which may facilitate SMEs' participation
✅ A dedicated article on professionalisation and capacity building for public buyers

⚠️ At the same time, further improvements are needed. Social procurement must become a real practice, not only a possibility on paper. Quality criteria should better reflect social and environmental value, and access to reserved contracts should remain linked to mission, profit reinvestment and employee ownership or participatory principles, rather than to legal status under each national law.

💪 SEE looks forward to working with the European Parliament, Member States and the Commission to strengthen the proposal during the legislative process!
