Hoekstra was finance minister of the Netherlands, and alas he has done pretty bad things for the environment. From blocking the reduction of nitrogen in the Netherlands to giving financial support (€3.4 billions!) to the Dutch airlines KLM, the fact that Hoekstra is running (once again) for Commissioner of Climate is unacceptable.

🗳ELECCIONES DE LA COMISIÓN DE LA UE 4-12 DE NOVIEMBRE🗳

El Parlamento Europeo votará en breve a la nueva Comisión Europea 🗳🇪🇺. Tienen en sus manos el poder de elegir a las personas que representarán a los ciudadanos de la Unión Europea durante los próximos cinco años, y las cosas pintan mal ❌

¿QUÉ OCURRE?❓

La Presidenta de la Comisión Europea, Ursula von der Leyen, ha presentado la propuesta de sus candidatos para la Comisión Europea 2024-2029. Del 4 al 12 de noviembre, el Parlamento Europeo interrogará a los Comisarios propuestos y los evaluará. Tras las comparecencias de los Comisarios propuestos, el Parlamento votará para aprobar o rechazar la Comisión Europea 🇪🇺

¿QUÉ PROBLEMA HAY?❓

Algunas de las propuestas del Presidente de la Comisión ponen en peligro los valores ecológicos y democráticos de la Comisión Europea🌳. La ambición ecológica es muy baja, con un antiguo empleado de Shell⛽️a cargo de «Crecimiento Limpio» y otro a cargo de «Transiciones Competitivas». Peor aún: entre los Comisarios propuestos está Fitto, que, de ser elegido, sería el primer Comisario de extrema derecha en la historia de la UE ❌

¡PRESIONEMOS POR UNA COMISIÓN AMBICIOSA!🇪🇺

Necesitamos instituciones ambiciosas que lideren la transición sin dejar a nadie atrás. Es nuestro derecho interpelar a nuestros políticos y exigirles que se comprometan con los objetivos importantes.

Almost a week ago we protested like there was a tomorrow.

Well, if we are publishing this, it means there has been a tomorrow. It's our duty to continue fighting because every today has its tomorrow!

If we were able to organise such a fantastic event, it was thanks to some fantastic people: and , who sang for us, Maya from , and, of course, our co-organisers .

Thanks also to .hebron from , whose inspirational speech was so good that God just said "they don't deserve it".

And finally, thanks to all the organisations and people who supported us, in person and/or online.

We will continue fighting, and we hope you'll be there to fight with us ✊🏼

Do you know Maya? How dare you not knowing Maya (yet)!? Maya works in the climate and energy team at the , an NGO that represents environmental NGOs and civil society to the EU. Her work focuses on renewables deployment in Europe. Her favourite dance track is Judas by Lady Gaga (and she doesn't know it, but we'll make her dance to it on Friday).
