U.V.A. New Member: Vigneto Italia, Rome Botanical Garden
📍Rome, Italy

On Rome’s historic Gianicolo Hill, just steps from the ancient Aurelian Walls, lies a vineyard unlike any other.

Founded in 2018, Vigneto Italia is a living ampelographic and viticultural museum — home to 170 grape varieties, including 155 native grapes from all 20 Italian regions and 15 international classics. Planted in the traditional alberello style, this 500 m² vineyard is managed with organic and biodynamic practices, free of chemicals, and rooted in sustainability.

Every vine was generously donated by Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo, turning this space into a meeting point between history, science, and culture in the very heart of Rome.

We are proud to welcome Vigneto Italia to the Urban Vineyard Association family — where tradition meets innovation and urban viticulture thrives!

Urban Roots, Human Connections 🌍

These four urban vineyards aren’t just growing grapes—they’re cultivating community, healing, and heritage. From Cleveland to Venice, each project proves that wine has the power to connect people and places in extraordinary ways:

🍷Château Hough, Cleveland
What once were abandoned lots are now thriving vines and a new path for at-risk youth, veterans, and returning citizens. Mansfield Frazier’s vision lives on—transforming lives, one vine at a time.

🍷 Can Calopa de Dalt, Barcelona
Tucked into Collserola Park, this historic masia produces Barcelona’s only local wine—while providing meaningful work for people facing social exclusion. Part vineyard, part community, 100% purpose.

🍷 Forty Hall Vineyard, London
London’s only commercial vineyard, powered by volunteers. Their wines fund mental wellbeing programs, proving that growing together helps us heal together.

🍷 Laguna nel Bicchiere, Venice
Reviving forgotten vineyards across the lagoon islands. Run by a non-profit, this grassroots movement brings culture, education, and history back to life—one harvest at a time.

These vineyards are more than beautiful places. They are living networks of care, creativity, and connection.

A Vineyard in the Heart of Buenos Aires? Yes, it’s real. 🍇

We’re proud to welcome as the newest member of the Urban Vineyard Association!

Already known for its beautiful peri-urban vineyard just 45 minutes from the city, Bodega Gamboa is now making history — bringing viticulture to the heart of the Monserrat district, Buenos Aires’ oldest neighborhood.

Right next to the Intercontinental Hotel and steps from the San Juan Bautista Church (built in 1654!), this urban vineyard grows among icons: Plaza de Mayo, Café Tortoni, and the birthplace of the May Revolution.

Founded in 2024, this vineyard isn’t just a bold move — it’s a tribute to the city’s past and a toast to its future.

Wines Born Where the City Breathes

Amid hidden squares, centuries-old walls, and streets full of life, vineyards grow that give rise to a unique kind of winemaking: the urban kind.

At Urban Vineyards Association (U.V.A.), we bring together projects that cultivate vines within the urban landscape. Vineyards nestled between trams, historic buildings, and rooftop gardens. These wines aren’t born in the countryside — they come to life in the very heart of the city.

🍷 The Urban Wines Catalogue is an invitation to discover wines crafted by 15 passionate producers. Each bottle represents a city, a community, a story that ferments between concrete, history, and deep roots.

From volcanic slopes to coastal breezes, urban vineyards thrive on a surprising variety of terroirs — each one shaping the flavor, identity, and soul of the wine it produces.

What makes an urban wine special?
– It brings forgotten spaces back to life.
– It connects heritage, sustainability, and local culture.
– It shows us that wine can belong to the city — and help transform it.

Now available on our website (link in bio).

Discover the unexpected flavor of urban vineyards and raise a glass to wines that tell more than just their origin.
