📢 ERSA Prize in Regional Science 2026 awarded to Professor André Torre
ERSA and the ERSA Prize Committee are pleased to announce that the ERSA Prize 2026 has been awarded to Professor André Torre.
Prof. Torre is a Distinguished Research Professor at INRAE (National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment), University of Paris-Saclay, and AgroParisTech. He is also a Fellow of the Regional Science Association International, a Member of Academia Europaea, and of the French Academy of Agriculture.
His research has made a significant contribution to regional science, particularly in the analysis of proximity relations and their role in territorial development. His work spans key areas such as:
• Local interactions between innovative firms and organizations
• Land use, urban–rural and political conflicts
• Local dimensions of the circular economy
With more than 200 articles and around 25 books, Prof. Torre has played a major role in advancing the spatial and institutional understanding of regional dynamics.
He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the R***e d’Économie Régionale et Urbaine and Journal of Regional and Urban Economics, and holds several leadership roles, including Director of the COFECUB program and President of the INRAE Center of Corsica.
Prof. Torre is also a former President of ERSA and ASRDLF.
🏆 The ERSA Prize will be awarded on 28 August 2026 during the Closing Session of the 65th ERSA Congress in Sofia.
