"From Prof. Emilio C. Viano
President, International Society of Criminology
Washington DC, 27 July 2015
Dear Colleague,
Greetings.
First of all, I want to thank you once more for taking part in the XVII World Congress of Criminology held in August 2014 in Monterrey NL, Mexico.
The Congress was a resounding success, thanks to you and to the support that the International Society of Criminology received in Monterrey.
I am proud to share with you the news that the Congress was rated number 1, as the best organized and delivered, among 800 events held in the Cintermex of Monterrey during 2014.
I am writing you today with another good news: the best papers of the Congress will be published by Springer International Publishing, a renowned and highly respected publishing house in a volume entitled: Gangs, Trafficking, and Fear of Crime: Research from the XVII World Congress of Criminology
This is limited to the English language.
I am still working on finding a publishing house for the Spanish material.
If you presented a paper in English, I cordially invite you to:
1. review it; revise and update it, if needed
2. study the Sample Chapter to get an idea of how Springer wants the chapter to be prepared, formatted
3. make sure you are following the instructions of Springer, especially the Manuscript Guidelines starting with section 4.2 and the Key Style Points
4. ask for permission from the author or copyright owner if you are extensively quoting copyrighted material (see the Permissions Instructions and the Permission Request forms)
5. follow the Art Guidelines if needed
6. check that everything is in order using the Manuscript Submission Checklist starting from “Abstract “on (the sections prior to Abstract are my responsibility)
7. sign the Contributor Consent to Publish
8. send everything to me via email at
[email protected].
9. Do not send material to Springer.
The deadline is NOVEMBER 15, 2015.
The paper will be evaluated by me with the help of the ISC Scientific Commission and other scholars if needed.
The decision of whether your paper is accepted for publication or not will be made by January 15, 2016.
Any changes requested will have to be completed by March 1, 2016 for the manuscript to be sent to Springer by the deadline.
Please, keep in mind that only papers of quality will be published, not all papers presented in Monterrey.
I am very pleased that your scholarly and professional work will be published by a prestigious publishing house. Please take advantage of this opportunity to share your insights and knowledge with others and to advance your career!
I look forward to receiving your manuscript before or on NOVEMBER 15, 2015.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support of the International Society for Criminology.
Best regards,
Emilio C. Viano
President"
