After more than one year of genocide, 76 years of ethnic cleansing, more than 42 000 Palestinians lives ended and 1600 Lebanese killed by the Zionist forces in the last year only, KU Leuven still collaborates on 60 projects with 29 “Israeli” partners or companies arming the Zionist entities. Students, professors, and staff of the KU Leuven have been, and still are, calling for an academic boycott and are demanding for transparency about all partnerships with “Israel” and its institutions.
To have our demands met we decided to occupy a university building in May: Shaimaa College, formerly known as De Valk. The Shaimaa College occupation lasted for four months: it was established as a strategy to put pressure on the KUL, and quickly became a place of union for individuals from different backgrounds and a community united in the fight for a Free Palestine. Our occupation was met with hypocrisy, lack of transparency and repression from the administration of the University. We have been evicted by the KUL, but our fight has not ended and will never end until we achieve our demands.
Do you want to do something for Palestine, but you don’t know where to start? Do you want to hold our university accountable for having academic ties with institutions which every year develop weapons used to annihilate entire Palestinian cities and villages? Come to our action meeting on the 7th of November where you will be able to learn more about our movement and brainstorm with us action ideas to keeping pressuring the KUL and get to our goal of an academic boycott.
KU Leuven you can’t hide, you are complicit in genocide: stop the lies and cut the ties!
