Contemporary Art Space in Ghent, Belgium

From 2006 on, KIOSK has been organizing a changing exhibition program for both emerging and established contemporary artists. KIOSK started in a small glass pavilion and moved in February 2010 to a permanent and larger gallery space. This venue is located in the former anatomical theatre of Cloquet Insitute, a renovated historical building on the Bijloke site in Ghent. KIOSK was initiated jointly

by non-profit organization Kunstensite and KASK, the faculty of Fine Arts at the University College Ghent. KIOSK is generously supported by the Flemish Authorities and the city of Ghent.

Built around a simple protocol, 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙧é 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙩 unfolds as a group exhibition in motion. Beginning with Stanley Brouwn’s idea of a 26 × 26 cm square, it expands into a shared framework where works take shape and spill beyond their starting point. Initiated by Marthe Merckx, Vicente Fuenzalida Lafourcade, and LAB D (Lars Bernakiewicz & Andreas D’hondt), the exhibition grows through a chain of invitations, as artists pass the space on to one another.

𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙧é 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙩 – 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩!

Join us at 18:00 for the opening of the final presentation of Malgré Tout.

At 18:00, Wendy Rojas and Saara Nahar, two students from ENSA Bourges, will perform an activation of Fluxbox — an artwork composed of 13 boxes created by 13 students during a two-week workshop led by Nefeli Papadimouli, Neal Beggs, and Hugo Bonnet Massip. Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Fluxus artists and their use of scores, instructions, and participatory gestures, 𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘹𝘣𝘰𝘹 explores the artwork as a transmissible action.

𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘹𝘣𝘰𝘹 featuring works by Stenella Boucher, Lucas Michel, Martin Gadre, Samuel Herreman, Lucie Dumont-Golovanoff, Wendy Rojas, Zhang Yaofang, Saara Nahar, Fili Liaskos, Julio Cahen, Gabriel Ferragu, and Lou Domenicone.

🧠 Neurotypical Brain

Neural circuits fire in a balanced way, automatically tuning in to what matters and tuning out the rest. Input is efficiently filtered and prioritised without extra effort. Signals arrive in manageable "volumes" and are smoothly integrated across networks.

The volume k**b is steady, and the mute button works perfectly.

🧠 Autistic Brain

Neural circuits are excitable. They activate more easily, with more intensity, and don’t discriminate between relevant and irrelevant input. Signals are louder and less filtered. There is less automatic prioritisation. More stimuli and input reach the consciousness. They feel equally loud and important, can "pile up", and create overwhelm.

The volume k**b is turned up, and the mute button is weak.

Built around a simple protocol, 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙧é 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙩 unfolds as a group exhibition in motion. Beginning with Stanley Brouwn’s idea of a 26 × 26 cm square, it expands into a shared framework where works take shape and spill beyond their starting point. Initiated by Marthe Merckx, Vicente Fuenzalida Lafourcade, and LAB D (Lars Bernakiewicz & Andreas D’hondt), the exhibition grows through a chain of invitations, as artists pass the space on to one another.

𝗞𝗜𝗢𝗦𝗞 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗜 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗻-𝗥𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮.𝗸.𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝙋𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙩

KIOSK financially supports Antwerp-based artist Dennis Tyfus’s annual gossip magazine Pedant by purchasing advertising space for €1,000 (excluding VAT). In return, KIOSK commissioned artist Liana Geysen-Rymenants, also known as a.k.a.BeRealBabe, to create the content for two separate half-page advertisements.

𝗞𝗜𝗢𝗦𝗞 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗜 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗲 𝗜𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗮, 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙐𝙨𝙚

𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘜𝘴𝘦 reflects the subtle shifts at the core of Hisae Ikenaga’s practice: transformations of status, function, and meaning. Positioned in an interdisciplinary space, her works open up a field of indeterminacy where new uses and narratives can emerge.They invite us to slow down, observe, and rethink how we perceive objects and space, revealing forms that are at once poetic and reflective.
