Ecopreneur.eu

Ecopreneur.eu Ecopreneur.eu, the European Sustainable Business Federation, aims for a sustainable economy by EU advocacy and projects.

Via 6 member organisations in different member states we represent about 3000 companies committed to sustainability, mostly SMEs. ECOPRENEUR.EU is the European Association for Sustainable Business. Environmental, economic and energy politics go beyond national borders. The European Union and its decision making structures are becoming more and more important. At least 40% of European regulation co

mes from Brussels – and the networks of national associations of the green economy are growing stronger. The first steps towards ECOPRENEUR.EU were already taken in 2009 on the initiative of the national associations Grüne Wirtschaft (Austria), Entreprendre Vert (France) and UnternehmensGrün (Germany). With the now official foundation of the umbrella organization ECOPRENEUR.EU in Brussels the common goals receive a strong voice. A strong voice for a green and sustainable economy in Europe

Since many years, the founding member organizations contribute actively to the political decision-making process in their respective countries. ECOPRENEUR.EU is the umbrella organization of entrepreneurs, unified in their acceptance of responsibility for our economy, our environment and our society. Together they set a course for sustainable economic policies. ECOPRENEUR.EU takes a stand for a European Green Deal, for the reformation of the economy and the promotion of social innovation in companies. The focus lies on regional economic structures and small and medium-sized companies.

To reduce the ever-growing amounts of waste, harmonised eco-modulated Extended Producer Responsibility ( ) schemes should be implemented in all EU Member States as soon as possible.
While we understand the EU Commission's prioritisation of and reduction in the revised Waste Framework Directive ( ), the goal must be a framework for any type of waste, in full alignment with the “polluter pays ” principle and the EU waste hierarchy.
Eco-modulation, for example, is only effective as a financial incentive if EPR fees for less circular products are significantly higher and directly linked to criteria, performance grade ( ) and greenhouse gas emissions ( ) based on CO2e, for example.

Consumers should have the right to take informed purchasing decisions based on clear and trustworthy information.
That's why we're asking for a fair method of mass balancing, where is allocated proportionally to all products of a process at a batch level and not at facility or company level so that claims about recycled content reflect the actual proportion present in a product. Otherwise, it should be considered a misleading environmental claim.

What is the cost of wearing your outfit today? Do you measure it only in Euros?
Global retail sales of apparel and footwear are reaching 2 trillion USD, yet the impact of the industry on our planet is tremendously negative.

The main issues include but aren’t limited to:
🔥 Oceans are polluted with microplastics
🔥 Landfills have become the end destination of more than 85% of clothes consumers buy
🔥 Unfair labor conditions for people producing clothes in developing countries
🔥 Production is a water and resource intensive process
🔥 Consumers are addicted to fast fashion and the problem is growing exponentially

Making the industry more circular and sustainable stands to reduce this negative impact and save entire ecosystems that are being destroyed by the fashion industry.
After all, it is our duty to protect our planet by making systems more circular, especially in fashion, but are you up for this challenge?

Sustainable business calls for implementation of the Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive as of 2024

Ecopreneur.eu advocates to make the directive mandatory for reporting as of financial year 2024, launch massive information campaigns for companies and give maximum support to the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) to finalise the European non-financial reporting standard in time.
