Hi everyone!
Today, we're sharing the third part of our interview with Julian, in which he talks about an activity he enjoyed with our volunteers.
Together, we visited the Pequeño Teatro to watch En busca de Eunice o un rap sobre escombros ("In Search of Eunice, or a Rap About the Rubble").
The play explores the pain, resilience, and memories of the victims of Operation Orion, the 2002 military intervention in Comuna 13, Medellín. Blending the classical myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with real testimonies and rap music, the production sheds light on the tragedy of the disappeared and the lasting impact of the events on the community.
The performance was quite abstract, so it wasn't always easy for all of our volunteers to fully understand its themes and symbolism.
However, the following week, Julian joined our adult class to explore the topic in greater depth, explaining it further to our volunteers during the "coffee table."
For a moment, our volunteers became students again, listening, asking questions, and learning from Julian's perspective and knowledge. This is exactly what we aim to achieve at Intercambio: a genuine exchange in which both volunteers and students learn from one another.
The focus is not only on teaching, but on sharing experiences, knowledge, and perspectives through mutual learning and connection.
Enjoy your Sunday (btw a big day for Colombia, Elections day).
