⚠️ Over 60% of young Europeans come across fake news more than once a week. And this isn’t just ‘funny news’ – it’s a genuine threat to our democracy.
Stereotypes and hoaxes used as online weapons to target women and marginalised communities, with the aim of driving them away from political and public life.

This is why the EU Fact Checker Network 🇪🇺 was created, a European project designed to defend our freedom of expression and the right to accurate and impartial information.

Together with journalists, fact-checkers, educators and activists, the project is taking action in five key countries to:
👉 Boost media literacy (teaching people to spot fake news).
👉 Debunk gender-based disinformation.
👉 Combat foreign interference that manipulates public debate.

Democracy only works if we are free to make informed choices. 💡

On May 3rd, we celebrate World Press Freedom Day 🖊️

A powerful reminder that free, independent, and accessible information is not a given—it’s something to protect every day. Press freedom lies at the heart of democracy, safeguarding our right to stay informed, think critically, and speak openly without fear.

CivicHype EU embraces this vision by reinforcing the vital connection between press freedom and access to trustworthy information. Through its commitment to open, diverse media and evidence-based thinking, the project helps people navigate today’s complex information landscape—encouraging informed choices and active participation in society.

Today more than ever, we stand with journalists and media professionals around the world.

European Youth Week 2026 is all about youth, solidarity, and active citizenship 💬
This year also celebrates 30 years of volunteering in Europe — recognising people who have made a real impact in their communities.
But being active today also means being informed. Disinformation spreads fast — and it affects how we think, engage, and participate.
With our EUDEM project, we support young people in building media literacy and fact-checking skills to navigate the digital world.
👉 Think before you share. Check before you trust.

🧭 The 2nd of April marks International Fact-Checking Day, a reminder of how vital verified information is in a digital space increasingly shaped by disinformation.

At a time when misleading narratives spread faster than ever, especially impacting marginalised communities and young people, critical thinking and media literacy are not optional—they are essential.

Through CivicHype, we are actively working to strengthen resilience against disinformation.

Our focus is clear:
• Empowering youth with tools to critically evaluate online content
• Supporting marginalised communities who are often disproportionately affected by misinformation
• Building practical, accessible approaches to media literacy and civic engagement

Fact-checking is not just about correcting falsehoods—it’s about protecting trust, participation, and democratic inclusion.

Let’s keep questioning, verifying, and building stronger information ecosystems together.

🌍 International Women’s Day 2026 reminds us of the importance of equality, inclusion, and youth participation in democracy. ✨
💡 CivicHype EU empowers young people—especially young women—to critically engage, debate, and influence public life across Europe. Through workshops, training, and community initiatives, we strengthen media literacy and equip youth to spot misinformation and engage in evidence-based dialogue.
🤝 By connecting civic engagement with gender perspectives, CivicHype ensures that democratic participation is informed, inclusive, and impactful. Across six EU countries, we are building a transnational network of youth, educators, and journalists.
✨ Join the movement: empower, debate, influence, connect!

🌍 International Women’s Day is more than a celebration — it’s a reminder. Our democracy is stronger when women’s voices are heard, represented and protected.
Across the world, women are still underrepresented in political and media spaces and are more exposed to online harassment, hate speech and gendered disinformation. These barriers limit not only individual rights, but the quality of our democratic life.
Through EUDEM, we work to promote media literacy, empower women and young people, and support inclusive and informed democratic participation across Europe.
Because equality is not only about access to opportunities, but also about access to truthful information and fair public debate.
Follow EUDEM and help build a more inclusive and informed democracy. 💙

Today we mark the World Day of Social Justice, a global moment to reflect on how inclusive policies, social protection, decent work and equal access to opportunities are essential to build fair and cohesive societies.
Social justice means reducing inequalities, protecting vulnerable communities and ensuring that everyone can participate fully in social and civic life.
In this context, EU DEM works to strengthen informed and inclusive democratic participation by promoting media literacy, countering disinformation and empowering young people, educators, journalists and civil society across Europe.
Because social justice also depends on how we inform, include and represent people.
Follow EU DEM and help build a fairer, more informed democracy.
