Great energy in Brussels with our ProVote partners from 6 countries! 🇧🇪✨

On 17 September we debated a critical challenge for modern democracy: fighting online disinformation and protecting constructive political debate. 📱🗣️

Visits to the Parliamentarium and House of European History perfectly framed why defending these democratic values matters today. 🏛️🇪🇺

How do we create cities that are truly fair, inclusive, and sustainable for everyone?

On September 9, our host partner, the Municipality of Velenje, welcomed the fourth working meeting of the FairCities project, bringing together 8 partners from across Europe to address green mobility and urban accessibility. To better understand the social and economic transformation toward a green future, we took part in an inspiring study visit to the Slovenian Coal Mining Museum to explore Velenje’s industrial roots.

Throughout the meeting, all partners shared successful initiatives from their own countries. As part of this exchange, RegioDev presented key Belgian practices including the national Mobility Budget and the Brussels Good Move plan.

The core message of our collaboration remains clear: transport systems must be designed alongside the people who struggle the most to get around—otherwise, "sustainable" will never truly mean "fair."

🌍 Strengthening the Voice of Rural Europe

At ProVote, we believe that European democracy is only as strong as its most remote community. To bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, we recently gathered experts, local leaders, and journalists in Brașov to identify real solutions for increasing civic engagement.

Key Insights from our "Strengthen the Voices of Remote Places" Workshop:

👉Visibility is Vital: Our participants emphasized the "Europe Touches You" concept—the need for citizens to see the concrete impact of the EU through clearly marked local investments and infrastructure.

👉Breaking Down Barriers: Beyond geographical distance, we addressed "invisible" obstacles like limited access to information and low institutional trust that currently hinder voter turnout in vulnerable areas.

👉Simplifying the Message: Data from across Romania, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and Greece shows that while rural citizens are willing to participate, political communication must be more relevant to their everyday local realities.

Join us for "The Power of Us: Energy Communities in Europe" 🇪🇺⚡

The green transition isn't just about tech—it’s about people! As the world faces new geopolitical shifts, local energy cooperatives are showing that collective action can drive real change.

Why should you care? Energy communities allow citizens to own and share renewable energy. It’s a fairer, more democratic way to power our cities. We’re getting together in Brussels to talk about:

✅ How citizens benefit directly from solar and wind projects. ✅ The hurdles we need to clear to make this the "new normal." ✅ How future EU funding (MFF) can support local action.

Featuring insights and examples of the best community-led projects across Europe.

🗓 Monday, 16 March 🕘 09:30 – 12:00 📍 Brussels, TBC 🎟
