The EFPT represents the consensus of psychiatric trainees' organisations across European countries and advocates for what training should look like, regardless of the country. EFPT goals are:

- to explore the diversity and richness of current training of psychiatrists in Europe;
- to support the development of national trainees’ organisations in all European countries;
- to promote and represent

internationally the views of the trainees in all branches of psychiatry;
- to translate the discussion of trainees into action at a local level to improve training.

A new chapter of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees Psychotherapy Guidebook is now live 📘

“Sartrean Existentialist Psychoanalysis” explores how Jean-Paul Sartre’s philosophy informs psychotherapy — focusing on freedom, responsibility, and the meaning behind our choices.

A perspective that reminds us:
we are not only shaped by our past, but continuously creating ourselves.

✍️ By Francisco Cunha & Vítor Amorim Rodrigues

07/03/2026

On this International Women’s Day, we are reminded that women’s mental health is not only a clinical topic; it is also a matter of equity, safety, and social justice.

Women across the world continue to experience unique mental health challenges shaped by gender-based violence, reproductive transitions, caregiving burdens, and structural inequalities in access to care. Addressing these challenges requires not only clinical knowledge, but also collaboration, advocacy, and gender-sensitive perspectives in psychiatry.

Through the EFPT Women’s Mental Health Working Group, early-career psychiatrists and trainees from different countries are coming together to build a collaborative platform for research, education, and dialogue in this field.

Our goal is to strengthen awareness of women’s mental health, support trainees interested in this area, and contribute to a more inclusive and responsive mental health care system.

On this day, we celebrate the resilience, contributions, and voices of women in psychiatry and beyond.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜
