On this International Women’s Day, we are reminded that women’s mental health is not only a clinical topic; it is also a matter of equity, safety, and social justice.
Women across the world continue to experience unique mental health challenges shaped by gender-based violence, reproductive transitions, caregiving burdens, and structural inequalities in access to care. Addressing these challenges requires not only clinical knowledge, but also collaboration, advocacy, and gender-sensitive perspectives in psychiatry.
Through the EFPT Women’s Mental Health Working Group, early-career psychiatrists and trainees from different countries are coming together to build a collaborative platform for research, education, and dialogue in this field.
Our goal is to strengthen awareness of women’s mental health, support trainees interested in this area, and contribute to a more inclusive and responsive mental health care system.
On this day, we celebrate the resilience, contributions, and voices of women in psychiatry and beyond.
Happy International Women’s Day! 💜
