Every attack on a humanitarian worker is also an attack on the people who depend on them for protection, shelter, healthcare and essential support.

Humanitarian workers must be protected so they can continue reaching people who need them most.

💙 The Blue Heart Campaign reminds us that ending human trafficking requires strong partnerships and collective action.

Human trafficking is a crime that affects millions of people worldwide. Behind every statistic is a person whose freedom, dignity and future have been taken away.

This week, IOM Belgium & Luxembourg joined partners in Brussels at the iconic Manneken P*s for the Blue Heart Campaign, standing in solidarity with victims and survivors of human trafficking and reaffirming our shared commitment to preventing exploitation in all its forms.

📣 Raising awareness is only one step. Ending human trafficking requires collective action, stronger protection for victims and continued efforts to hold traffickers accountable.

30/07/2026

💙 This is one story. Millions more remain untold.

Samuel’s story is a reminder that human trafficking can take many forms. Around the world, criminal networks exploit people through deception, violence and coercion, forcing them into online scam operations.

On this , we stand with victims and survivors like Samuel. People forced to commit crimes are victims of human trafficking and deserve protection, not punishment.

Since 2022, IOM has assisted more than 3,500 victims trafficked into online scam centres across Southeast Asia, supporting survivors from over 39 nationalities.

🎥 “I’m not a criminal. I’m a survivor.”

As part of a Technical Support Instrument (TSI) project funded by the European Commission (SG Reform), the Council for Alien Law Litigation (CALL) explored whether AI could support judges and legal staff in navigating large volumes of jurisprudence and legislation.

In collaboration with Delaware and the CALL IT Team, the AI system was tested in a secure, isolated environment using realistic use cases, with no impact on real cases.

Key findings:
• Practical experience in testing and evaluating AI systems.
• Evidence based recommendations on AI adoption and governance.
• Greater understanding of the EU AI Act and safeguards for fundamental rights.

AI can support tasks such as searching, comparing and retrieving legal information, while human expertise remains essential for legal reasoning, critical judgement and decision making.

Digital transformation helps CALL explore how technology can improve processes while ensuring accountability, legal certainty and human oversight.
