How does Europe stay competitive while delivering the energy transition? ⚡
💡 The Energy & Climate Summit in Brussels brought together policymakers and industry leaders for sessions on the Clean Industrial Deal, critical raw materials, the energy system for Europe’s AI economy, electrification and the Energy Union.
What we learned from the event:
🔌 Grids come first. Clean generation isn’t enough if networks can’t absorb it. Bottlenecks and curtailment would undermine the transition.
💶 Power must be competitive. One speaker noted electricity can cost four times as much as gas in some countries and called for a review of taxes, levies and charges.
🏛️ Delivery is the test. The economic case is clear. There are national barriers, the need to pass cheaper power on to users, and the importance of implementing the electricity market reform already adopted.
🌍 At UNITEE, we see this through the eyes of the entrepreneurs we represent. A transition that works must also reach small and new businesses, through affordable power, fair access to grids and clean-energy contracts, and a real place in Europe’s new industrial economy.
