🎶 Where do artists of different music genres find their audience across Europe?

This piece by The European Correspondent, spotlights the hotspots for EDM, metal, folk and more, using JamBase survey data from 2025, showing the diversity of Europe's live music ecosystem. 👇

Across 34 European countries, pop and rock dominate most concert stages, while EDM leads in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malta, and metal takes the top spot in Slovenia.

Touring patterns reveal another Europe altogether: artists often hop between neighbouring countries, Latin acts travel the furthest, and EDM migrates south for the summer. By then, around one in three European EDM concerts takes place in Spain.

And one city towers over the rest: London hosts more than four times as many concerts as Paris or Berlin.

🎤Caring for the artist: Our Austrian member Posthof - Zeitkultur am Hafen shared the vital importance of artist hospitality to protect both mental and physical wellbeing when life on the road gets demanding.

🫶 Protecting the crew: Melkweg Amsterdam in the Netherlands opened up about the unique mental health challenges of nightlife staff, and how they support their crew through active DEI initiatives and building a culture of trust.

For the first time ever, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, have signed a Joint Declaration committing to culture at the heart of EU policy: “Europe for Culture - Culture for Europe"

Among many key points, the declaration focuses on:

✅Supporting young and emerging artists,
✅Cross-border circulation of diverse European cultural works,
✅Promoting artist mobility, gender equality, and fair remuneration,
✅Recognizing the cultural sector's role in responding to climate challenges,
✅Protecting intellectual property rights and addressing the impact of AI on creators' fair pay.

We thank the three EU institutions for their work on this declaration and look forward for these vital objectives to turn into tangible and measurable progress for live music venues and emerging artists across all of Europe.
