📣26 European music organisations back MEPs Rafowicz & Kuhnke's AgoraEU draft report
A dedicated Music strand has long been called for by the sector.
It is a major step forward, recognising music’s cultural, social and economic value.
The case is clear. Music is one of Europe’s most visible cultural forms, yet it depends on a fragile ecosystem of independent artists, NGOs, and SMEs facing market concentration, opaque streaming, AI disruption and limited cross border reach.
Key priorities we welcome:
👉A stronger, more competitive and independent music sector
👉A European Music Observatory
👉Action on market concentration, platforms and AI
👉Better working conditions and social protection
👉Discoverability, access to finance, diversity, and cross border circulation
Recognition needs investment:
Earmarking 15% of the budget for music marks real progress.
But if Europe wants its music sector to grow, circulate and compete globally, this must be a floor, not a ceiling.
AgoraEU can shape a stronger future for European music.
EU institutions must ensure the music strand has the funding, governance and tools required to deliver meaningful and long term support.
