Het Belgian Offshore Platform verenigt de belangrijkste partners die investeren in hernieuwbare (wind)energie- productie op de Belgische Noordzee. Het BOP verdedigt de belangen van haar leden en bepleit de voorwaarden voor de noodzakelijke ontwikkeling van offshore (wind)energie. Vanuit het BOP worden diverse stakeholders geรฏnformeerd en gesensibiliseerd over de elektriciteitsproductie via windtur

bines op zee. Het BOP onderhoudt internationale contacten en deelt ervaringen uit met buitenlandse sectorgenoten. Het BOP verricht studie- en onderzoekswerk over hernieuwbare energieopwekking op zee.

Met maar liefst 180.000 bezoekers en tal van activiteiten, was het grootste maritieme festival van onze kust opnieuw een schot in de roos. Van rondvaarten op unieke schepen en smakelijke vishapjes, tot leren duiken in een duiktank en ontdekken hoe oude zeemanstechnieken en ambachten on the spot vervaardigd worden.

Ook onze stand in โ€˜het Blauw Innovatiedorpโ€™ werd drukbezocht. Dat bewijst de goedgevulde doos met ingevulde quizformulieren. Wij zijn alvast benieuwd om de antwoorden na te kijken en de winnaar bekend te maken! ๐Ÿ”œ

With as many as 180,000 visitors and plenty of activities, our coastโ€™s biggest maritime festival was yet again a huge success. The activities ranged from cruising on unique ships and feasting on delicious fish snacks, to learning to dive in a dive tank and discovering how ancient techniques and crafts of seamanship are practised on the spot.

Our stand in โ€˜the Blue Innovation Villageโ€™ was also very popular, as the box filled to the brim with completed quiz forms shows. We look forward to checking the answers and announcing the winner! ๐Ÿ”œ

Avec pas moins de 180 000 visiteurs et de nombreuses activitรฉs, le plus grand festival maritime de notre cรดte a une nouvelle fois รฉtรฉ une franche rรฉussite. Des croisiรจres sur des navires uniques aux savoureuses dรฉgustations de poisson, en passant par des baptรชmes de plongรฉe en fosse ou la dรฉcouverte de techniques de matelotage et d'artisanat d'autrefois, les visiteurs n'ont pas eu le temps de s'ennuyer.

Notre stand dans le ยซ Village bleu de lโ€™innovation ยป a aussi connu un franc succรจs. Nous pouvons le constater avec la boรฎte remplie de formulaires de quiz complรฉtรฉs. Nous sommes dรฉjร  impatients de dรฉcouvrir les rรฉponses et de publier le nom du grand gagnant ! ๐Ÿ”œ

De energiecrisis waarmee we vandaag worden geconfronteerd, is een olie- en gascrisis. Tegelijkertijd steunt ons energiegebruik nog steeds voor meer dan 75 % op fossiele brandstoffen. Om onze energiezekerheid te versterken, moeten we dus zelf meer elektriciteit opwekken. Niet later, maar nu. Het is tijd voor actie! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Dat was de kernboodschap op de jaarlijkse conferentie van WindEurope in Madrid. Maar hoe maken we die omslag concreet? Hoe realiseren we meer elektrificatie om zo energieonafhankelijker te worden?

De recente lancering van de hernieuwde tender voor het eerste kavel, volledig gewaarborgd door een CfD-mechanisme, is een belangrijke stap voorwaarts. Maar verdere transparantie over timing en capaciteit blijft noodzakelijk. โš ๏ธ

The energy crisis we are faced with today is an oil and gas crisis. At the same time, we still rely on fossil fuels for more than 75% of our energy consumption. In other words: if we want to bolster our energy security, we need to generate more electricity ourselves. Not at some point soon, but now. The time for action has come! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

That was the key takeaway from the annual WindEurope conference in Madrid. But how do we achieve that transformation? How can we deliver more electrification and greater energy security?

In Belgium, more clarity about the planned Princess Elisabeth Zone is vital too. The recent launch of the revised tender for the first plot, fully guaranteed by a CfD mechanism, is a major step in the right direction. Our Belgian offshore wind farms are not an open sailing zone; they constitute a restricted area. Sailing through them is not safe:

๐Ÿ‘‰ You put yourself in danger.
๐Ÿ‘‰ You could damage our farms.
๐Ÿ‘‰ You risk heavy fines.

The best thing to do is to keep a distance of 500 m from the boundaries of our energy zone at all times: just as impressive and completely safe!

De jaarlijkse conferentie van WindEurope zit er alweer op. Het absolute hoogtepunt van dit driedaagse congres voor de Europese windenergiesector? Dat was de slotdag die volledig in het teken stond van offshore windenergie. Ook onze minister van Energie, Mathieu Bihet, tekende present. Een geslaagde editie! ๐Ÿ™

The annual WindEurope conference has already come to a close. The absolute highlight of this three-day congress for the European wind energy sector? That was the final day, which was entirely dedicated to offshore wind energy. Our Minister for Energy, Mathieu Bihet, was also in attendance. A successful edition! ๐Ÿ™

โŒ Non. Le secteur รฉolien europรฉen sโ€™est imposรฉ une interdiction de mise en dรฉcharge des pales dโ€™รฉoliennes hors dโ€™usage. Bien que les รฉoliennes modernes soient dรฉjร  recyclables ร  90 % par le biais de mรฉthodes conventionnelles, lโ€™Europe veut aller encore plus loin pour refermer entiรจrement la boucle du recyclage.

Pour cette raison, le secteur sโ€™est engagรฉ, depuis le 1er janvier 2026, ร  rรฉutiliser les pales dโ€™รฉoliennes dรฉmantelรฉes, ร  leur trouver une nouvelle utilisation, ร  les recycler ou ร  les valoriser. Nous pouvons ainsi recycler totalement nos รฉoliennes. โ™ป๏ธ

โŒ No. The European wind energy sector has agreed to end the practice of sending decommissioned wind turbine blades to landfill. Even though 90% of the materials in modern wind turbines are already recyclable using conventional methods, Europe wants to go one step further and fully close the recycling loop.

And that's exactly why, starting from 1 January 2026, the sector has pledged to reuse, repurpose, recycle or recover the blades from decommissioned wind turbines too. That way, we recycle our wind turbines 100%. โ™ป๏ธ

โŒ Neen. De Europese windenergiesector heeft zichzelf een stortverbod opgelegd voor afgedankte windturbinebladen. Hoewel moderne windturbines al voor 90 % recycleerbaar zijn via conventionele methodes, wil Europa nog een stap verder gaan en de recyclingkringloop volledig sluiten.

Daarom heeft de sector zich sinds 1 januari 2026 ertoe verbonden om voortaan ook de bladen van ontmantelde windturbines te hergebruiken, een nieuwe bestemming te geven, te recycleren of terug te winnen. Zo recycleren we onze windturbines 100 %. โ™ป๏ธ
