That's the question discussed in a new article by Béla Kuslits, former Senior Ecology Officer at JESC, and the Centre for Fit for Future Generations. Intergenerational justice is more than an afterthought in climate policy. On this 2026 , we invites you reconnect with our concrete, lived experience of the world. Caring for our common home is a deeply moral and spiritual calling.

True ecological justice requires us to listen to both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor, moving away from systems of hyper-acceleration and artificial environments toward a culture of care and solidarity. Today is a reminder to renew our commitment by advocating for a just energy transition and accompanying those most vulnerable to environmental displacement.

What does ethical land use look like in a world facing simultaneous food, climate, and biodiversity crises?

A 2025 study commissioned by the German Catholic Bishops' Conference offers a powerful answer: we need a systemic framework that integrates ecological limits, social justice, and global responsibility. These challenges can’t be addressed separately.

On Monday, 22 June, Jesuit European Social Centre (JESC) and European Laudato Si' Alliance (ELSiA) are hosting an event that brings ethical, political, and practical voices into the same room. Dr Stefan Eisiedel — Scientific Secretary to the Expert Panel — will present the study's core findings and explore their implications for the EU's Common Agricultural Policy reform.

Building on the momentum of the recent fossil fuel transition conference in Santa Marta, the campaign has officially released its new Statement and Policy Brief ahead of COP31.
Rooted in Laudato Si’ and the Jubilee call for hope, the campaign's new declaration demands urgent international commitments to debt justice, a just energy transition away from fossil fuels, and food sovereignty rooted in ecological and social justice. 🌍

Crucial resources and policy materials will be rolled out across major climate negotiations throughout 2026, from SB64 in Bonn this June to COP31 in Turkey this November. 🇹🇷

It serves as a dedicated framework for reflection, dialogue, and accelerated action regarding the care of our common home and the implementation of integral ecology principles. 🌿

This year, Pope Leo XIV reminds us of the inseparable link between protecting our environment and building peace. During his recent address, Pope Leo XIV emphasized a fundamental pillar of our collective mission: “𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲!” Whether we are facing the challenges of AI or treating our planet, the human person and human dignity must remain at the center.
