Some snapshots of our very first Council of Europe International activity! 💜🇪🇺

With elections in Cymru and other European nations this year, where an ever bigger far right is becoming more and more violent and discriminatory towards minorities, representatives from EFAY members and UNPOy traveled to Caerdydd to learn, discuss and implement action against this challenge ✊🏻🌐

The rise and normalization of far right positions is a direct threat to democracy and the Rule of Law, where minorities and minoritised nations are the first to suffer their erosion. Stay tuned for more information on our findings! 🕊️

Last weekend the EFAY Bureau travelled to to hold its last in person Bureau of its 2 year mandate 👥🌐 Surrounded by the beauty of Friûl, our Bureau Members carefully discussed and planned the next months, including the upcoming Bureau Elections in June!

Hosted by our dear friends from , we also organised on Friday 5th a conference on walking towards a new Europe of the Regions. Thank you to our speakers and attendees for a very insightful time and meaningful discussions!

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we shine a light on a reality too often ignored: women in politics face disproportionate levels of harassment, threats, and violence simply for stepping into public life.

It’s important to name the aggressor: in the absolute majority of cases the perpetrators are men. This reflects deep-rooted inequalities that must be addressed, not ignored.

This isn’t just a women’s issue, it’s a threat to democracy itself. No society can thrive when voices are silenced through fear.

In EFAy we stand for a political environment where every woman can participate safely, freely, and equally.
Violence has no place in our institutions, our communities, or our democracy. 💜

🌍💧 Europe, Alsace & Stocamine: can local autonomy and self-determination better protect our environment?

This November, EFAY joined forces with , , 🌱 and .youth ⚖️ at the conference “Ecosystem Integrity in Europe” in Mulhouse.

42,000 tonnes of hazardous waste sit directly above one of Europe’s largest aquifers 💦, a risk that could affect 7 million people. Centralistic policies and planning, sacrificing "peripheral" territories and their ecosystems, lie at the heart of the problem 🏢

Could giving local communities more real decision-making power prevent ecocide? 🌿🤝

📍The event will take place in Mulhouse in cooperation with EFAy’s local member organisation .

📣Speakers from Finland, Alsace and Germany will discuss the role of youth in climate justice, the ecocide law, the directive on ecosystem destruction, and intergenerational justice.

Together we will explore how regions can play a stronger role in shaping Europe’s environmental policies and decisions.✊🏽

Join us as we work together for a greener and fairer Europe 🌱

Tonight, the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was bringing lifesaving humanitarian aid to Gaza has just been attacked by the Israeli navy. 🇵🇸🇮🇱

This interception is fully illegal under international law and the members of the flotilla are being held hostage against their will. 🌐

We MUST go to the streets to protest against and bring an end to the GENOCIDE that the state of Israel is inflicting on the Palestinian people. If our governments won't act, we will! 💪🏽
