Poland: Through the European Solidarity Corps, volunteers Dorra and Marwa are contributing to community initiatives at ADRA’s center in Wrocław, Poland. Recently, they took part in the Europe Day celebrations at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Alongside representatives of the European Commission, they engaged with students about international volunteering, intercultural exchange, and the many opportunities for personal and professional growth that come through social engagement.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and share how much volunteering can offer. I hope we were able to inspire others to take part in international programmes," said Dorra.

The event highlighted the impact of the European Solidarity Corps in fostering solidarity, cultural understanding, and active citizenship across Europe.

When disaster strikes, local churches can become places of safety, care, and hope.

After recent storms in Portugal, ADRA Portugal and ADRA Europe trained 33 local representatives in Lisbon through the Disaster Ready Churches programme. The goal is simple: help churches prepare before a crisis, so they can serve their communities with love when help is needed most.

As Gabriel Villarreal from ADRA Europe shared, being prepared can “make a huge difference in the lives of people affected by emergencies.”

Looking back to World Bee Day. Bees were celebrated in Gevgelija, An Update by ADRA Macedonia!
GEVGELJA, May 2026 – In honour of the most important pollinators on the planet, the Municipality of Gevgelija and the Beekeeping Federation of Macedonia, in cooperation with supporters, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Skopje, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and ADRA Macedonia, organised a mass celebration of World Bee Day on May 13, 2026. Although the official date is May 20th, this festive event marked the symbolic start of the week dedicated to the bee, filled with activities to raise environmental awareness. As the southern gate of Macedonia, Gevgelija is the right place from which to send a strong message to the entire region and beyond about the importance of nature and the survival of bees.

📅 Last weekend, ADRA Portugal took another step in strengthening its emergency response capacity through a workshop integrated into the “Disaster Ready Churches” program, facilitated by ADRA Europe — a moment of learning, sharing, and commitment to the communities they serve.

The team shared: "During two days, 33 representatives from our local delegations gathered in Lisbon to gain knowledge about how ADRA operates in emergency situations, as well as practical skills in emergency management and humanitarian response, under the guidance of Gabriel Villarreal, Emergency Response Coordinator at ADRA Europe. 🤝

An initiative born from the context we all know: the recent natural disasters in Portugal reminded us that preparedness begins before the crisis — and begins within communities.

🏃‍♀️ Charity Run “Run for Mother” Mobilized 4,000 Participants Across 13 Cities to Fight Domestic Violence

The 5th edition of the charity run “Run for Mother”, organized by the AMiCUS Romania Student Federation in partnership with ADRA Romania, was a remarkable success. Held simultaneously in 13 cities, the event united communities in support of families affected by domestic violence.

Through this charity race, participants were invited to donate in support of mothers and children impacted by domestic abuse, helping them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society through ADRA Romania’s “ADRA House” project.

For ADRA Romania, the “Run for Mother” campaign achieved:
• Total donations of 229,190.5 RON, of which 103,852.79 RON directly supported victims of domestic violence, while the remaining amount covered administrative and event-related costs.
• 4,000 runners, including 880 children and 444 AMiCUS volunteers involved on the day of the event.
• Participation in 13 cities: Arad, Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj, Craiova, Iași, Oradea, Pitești, Sibiu, Sighetu Marmației, Suceava, Târgu Mureș, and Timișoara.

The organizer, the AMiCUS Romania Student Federation, aimed to support mothers and children affected by domestic violence who receive free assistance through ADRA Romania’s project:
“Emergency Reception Center for Victims of Domestic Violence – ADRA House.”

The project’s mission is to help beneficiaries safely rebuild their lives through social reintegration and specialized support services, including:
• Emergency shelter
• Psychological counseling
• Social assistance
• Emergency medical support
• Social vouchers
• Hygiene and cleaning products
• School supplies
• Transportation support
• Clothing and essential items

Together, we can offer safety, dignity, and hope to families affected by abuse.
